Ihor Dusaniwsky, managing director predictive analytics, S3 Partners, found that BUR LN short interest is $101 million; 10.93 million shares shorted; 5.44 percent of its float; stock borrow fee is 0.30 percent fee (general collateral).

Dusaniwsky observed: “Short selling responded as expected, with a surge of selling over the last few days. Shares shorted has increased by +7.7 million shares, +240 percent over the past week as investors quickly reacted to the research report.”

According to Dusaniwsky, short sellers are up $18.1 million in year-to-date mark-to-market profits, of which $9.8 million was generated over the last week.

Burford’s stock price rebounded yesterday as both the CEO, Christopher Bogart, and co-founder, Jonathan Molot, responded by calling Muddy Water’s characterizations “false & misleading.

He also observed that shorts were up +$33.1 million from Monday through to Wednesday but down -$23.3 million yesterday and today.

Dusaniwsky commented: “With Burford’s stock price rebounding, we may see a quick reversal in short seller’s inclinations as some will start buying to cover their short positions in order to lock in their short term profits before they evaporate.”

One would have to be a special kind of "stupid". To take infinite/unlimited risk over limited risk.

As a long term investor all I lose is my initial capital. Fine. I'm diversified one or two failures is fine. Nature of the game.

You guys are mad. Taking on a legal firm. With some of the most legally qualified lawyers in the world. Who will be deploying all kinds of strategies over the weekend.

If they come out with a massive share buyback. Or come out with a large special dividend. Or find another large Sovereign Wealth Fund to invest in another Fund. Or find a Sovereign Wealth Fund to buy a large chunk of equity.

Then game over for you "shorters". All stops will be busted.

Lets see how quickly you can re-fill your orders.

Anyone notice the tweet that was posted soon after MW first tweeted about their pending short. It was asking if the company in question was BUR. I suspected it was posted by MW themselves. Now it has been deleted. Covering their tracks now LOL!

If you don't get out now. Then you don't know what Burford will come out with over the weekend. Lots of strategies they could deploy. They are used to fighting tough battles. Could seek a large investor to come in buy shares in bulk. You guys have no way of knowing what the opening price on Monday will be. All stops will be breached.

Always love a good short squeeze. Have a look at what happened when people tried to short Volkswagen back in 2008. Stock price initially dropped from EUR 270 but then shot up to over EUR 1000

Lot of shorters got burnt, wiped out. Can see this happening again.

As a long term investor my risk is only limited to the initial capital i put into the business. So I only put in enough money that I could lose and not lose any sleep. As a "shorter" your risk is infinite. How do you guys sleep at night? You guys must be really sweating right now. Can see a mass panic coming very soon especially as this goes to close on Friday. You "shorters" have no way of predicting what Burford will come out with over the weekend. Time to reflect. Time to sue. Time to get bought out my private equity or sovereign wealth fund. I would get out guys. otherwise Monday is going to be carnage. Why do "shorters" take UNLIMITED RISK. No sensible person would ever do that.
