13/7/2024 08:39 | Interest rates coming down is not going to give people more money if their 2 year mortgage goes from 1.5% to 4.75% | ![]() trying2trade
13/7/2024 08:36 | #Pugugly, an interesting space, their pricing is nuts, GBP300 for a baseball cap, 500 for a T shirt, 600 for a pair of shorts and 2,500 for a coat, BUT the company has endurance and has survived for 168 years through 2 world wars, 2 pandemics and more fashion cycles than any of us here have.. Is BRBY is a turnaround story, a takeover target, or a continued slow decline until either of the former take place..? LVMH must be watching closely..? HNW and UHNW buyers do not even look at prices, but your aspirational buyer will have more disposable income soon as interest rates begin the reduction cycle..? | laurence llewelyn binliner
13/7/2024 07:51 | Daily Mail just confirmed my concerns that their fashions and styling "seems to lack the must-have vibe for the seriously moneyed, a group that Burberry is targeting with 'elevated' pricing. At the same time, aspirational shoppers, always a key clientele, may be put off by such pricing". The $64K question is whether the situation is recoverable - If so at what cost. Market cap still seems far too high for a failing brand (imo) | ![]() pugugly
10/7/2024 18:17 | #Kinwah, interesting thoughts, it has always been a possibility that a major like LVMH comes along with a bid, and at todays share price even more so.. MnA can be the key to unlock economies of scale, this year I have seen SMDS, and BVIC accept offers so far so they are gone from my PF, it is a shame to lose key companies competing on the global markets, DLG knocked a bid back too.. As a shareholder, I like backing the plucky Brit companies taking it to the world and winning, keeping their USP.., but times they are a changing.. :o) | laurence llewelyn binliner
10/7/2024 17:34 | No-one is expecting Q1 trading to be anything other than disappointing. What the management could be considering is a strategic review of the business which would include being open to takeover bids. I really don't think there is any strategic rationale in being a standalone business these days trading on its 'Britishness'. Most luxury brands are part of portfolios where the owners can extract synergies from complementary brands. | ![]() kinwah
10/7/2024 08:08 | [...] Heres some cheerful reading. Not sure a bowl is coming any time soon. We havent seen the darkest hour yet Edit, why is BRBY trustpilot page blocked? | ![]() purplepelmets
09/7/2024 17:20 | Think the chart is heading for a very nice bowl - at some point!.Just a thought, there's been a significant increase in freight costs again due to the issues in the Red Sea / Suez Canal, which I'd guess could possibly benefit BRBY in terms of their Chinese market (assuming also that there Chinese factory is capable of fully serving its retail outlets?) as other imports will no doubt not only be delayed but the extra costs incurred passed on.Saw an article that said it's even now hitting Chinese exports of Christmas products (false Xmas trees etc).Thinking out aloud and possibly just gibberish too!. | ![]() disc0dave46
09/7/2024 16:31 | I've posted a link to some of their current season clothes - just fwiw, their pricing appears optimistic v their brand desirability - others may see it differently. | ![]() essentialinvestor
09/7/2024 16:14 | Burberry's share price is so low it's too cheap to buy! I worry that there must be some existential crisis brewing beneath the surface, there almost certainly isn't but why take the risk? | ![]() cynicalsteve

09/7/2024 11:06 | With fx headwind alone of £20m, not to mention wholesale H1 down £25m, then their headcount reduction isn't going to move the dial, possibly saving c£15m pa (median base salary £37k and 400 job cuts) less redundancy payments of c£8m (statutory £21k). | ![]() disc0dave46
09/7/2024 06:58 | Cutting salaries and reducing costs news is usually well received by the market, we will find out in the TU next week (19th).. | laurence llewelyn binliner
