"The luxury fashion retailer’s shares look cheap" | philanderer
14/4/2016 21:40 | Phil - tempting as it may sound, the question is who may want to buy BRBY at this stage? I think for a company that generates a significant part of its business from China, any potential bidder would have to be confident it can meaningfully improve performance in that part of the world. In view of the fact that the luxury sector is struggling en masse in China, a potential bid is unlikely I think (naturally, I could be completely wrong here because in a world of record low yields, money needs to be deployed somewhere and the big boys are naturally attracted to M&A's). I would also say that - even though valuations look deceptively cheaper - as opposed to a year ago - what particularly worries me is the slowing rate sales growth. It has been going down for a good while and the situation does not seem likely to improve in the near future. As you know, I am watching closely here with the view to go long at some point. I think that point will arrive when most brokers will issue sell - rather than buy - recommendations. The proverbial throw in the towel moment. I don't think we are there yet so today I decided to open a short with a stop loss at £15. Have a good evening. | tongosti

14/4/2016 12:44 | As I have mentioned here several times, BRBY is best avoided or shorted (for the braver ones). Going long is not an option at this stage. | tongosti
