"Burberry goes all bohemian at glitzy London show"


Burberry's top-end Prorsum line is always a highlight of London Fashion Week, for the quality of clothes and the A-list crowd it draws

LONDON (AFP) -

For all the talented young designers making their names in London, the fashion industry turns to Burberry each season for glitz and glamour -- and the luxury label did not disappoint with its show Monday.

US actress Maggie Gyllenhaal, British singer Paloma Faith and models Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Cara Delevingne were in the front row to see a bohemian collection dominated by a patchwork of prints in rich autumnal colours.

"I loved it. There's so many things I wanted to wear," Gyllenhaal told creative director and chief executive Christopher Bailey as she worked her way through a crush of press and models backstage.

Faith added: "It was a really amazing show, it's beautiful."

Burberry's top-end Prorsum line is always a highlight of London Fashion Week, for the quality of clothes, the A-list crowd it draws and the sense of theatre

It may seem strange to talk about Burberry (LSE: BRBY) as a turnaround stock. After all, its share price is up 16% so far this year. However, its progress as a business has been somewhat slow, with Burberry due to report a decline in earnings of 1% in the current year.

Looking ahead, though, this is set to change considerably. That’s because Burberry is forecast to increase its bottom line by 11% next year, and by a further 10% the year after. And, with there being the potential for further Chinese stimulus measures, it could gain a boost not only from improving sentiment, but also from higher sales over the medium term, too.
