03/3/2010 00:12 | Financial Times mentioned these today. Nothing much other than a few snippets from the results, but a mention none the less. Article is at..... | calahan
01/3/2010 18:56 | I agree - an amazing performance given the market conditions over the past year. As always with BPI not much of a reaction to results but should track up over the coming months. Still a good dividend yield relative to market (and interest at the bank!) and appears the board are being conservative with cash, with a view to increasing dividend should good performance continue. As you said usual gloomy outlook, but I believe this is to keep forecasts lower / reasonable. BPI have traded above expectations for the past 6 months and I do not see any reasons why this should not continue given the (slightly) better market conditions. Will continue to hold. | costanz
01/3/2010 18:01 | Very impressive set of results today. Underlying earnings of 38p gives a PE under 8 and borrowings reduced by 30%. Disappointing dividend cut to 11p but a yield around 3.6% is in line with the market and well covered (3.5x). The usual gloomy statements re outlook from the management but there's more cost cutting and lower interest costs to come while we wait for the opportunities on the sales side in 2011. I'm optomistic we can get through the £3 ceiling and bel closer to £4 in a years time. | makingheaps
17/2/2010 09:44 | looks like barcs winning the race! | s34icknote
16/2/2010 08:19 | haha - saw the price drop a bit on low volume. That is the thing with BPI - can have huge movements on low turnover. | costanz
16/2/2010 08:14 | reduced half my holding sorry guys pushed the price down to jump on barc short term. | s34icknote
08/2/2010 02:33 | Thanks for the article. Last couple of trading statements have been encouraging indicating solid FY results. It will be interesting to see what level of dividend they go for if EPS have increased significantly. BPI is a long-term hold - price moves too much on low volume! | costanz

06/1/2010 16:28 | Yes good point they seem very positive about the effect of the Stockton closure having an effect in particular | makingheaps
06/1/2010 13:16 | MakingHeaps, if you read the company announcements, they talk about real value being delivered in 2010 as the new factory benefits start producing the results. That's why I see this as another 12 month hold before the risk reward balance needs to be reviewed further. | boozey
05/1/2010 18:35 | Very strong bounce back as investors see the value in this. | gswredland
05/1/2010 18:23 | Bought in at £1.60 and £2.25. Planned to sell at £3 but not so sure now. May actually add a few more. Greedy? | makingheaps
04/1/2010 19:30 | Nice recovery here after falling out of bed at the end of last year. Worth holdingt throughout 2010 IMO. | boozey
30/12/2009 17:35 | Pullback means it is now back on the longer term trend line and i have bought today for long term hold - will add if it falls (at 2.50, 2.30 and 2.10)but can't see it going much lower than this given the figures. Target for 2010 is £4.00, stop loss £2.00. | carver66
30/12/2009 11:31 | gg it does thanks | sleveen
30/12/2009 07:33 | All, The pullback I believe may reflect the increasing raw material costs. The vast majority of PP & PE is bought in Euro's. With costs increasing in December and more price rises pencilled in for Jan, it will impact slightly on profit (and we are well below historical highs). However, I do believe that BPI will do very well this year. Hope this helps gg | greengiant
30/12/2009 06:28 | any reason for pull back ? | s34icknote
17/12/2009 13:27 | Heavy plastics maker British Polythene hit new highs Monday on predictions full-year results will be at the top end of expectations. "July was a much better month than in 2008. The same pattern continued into August, September and October and we are well positioned to have a much better year than in 2008 | lurnin |
