The results here a few weeks ago weren't that bad after all then looking at the share price move up since. Why the sell on the news sent these sub £25 in late February is one of those market moves that leaves one scratching one's head for logical explanations. The market is what it is.When a market is as unloved as the ftse100 then shorting and selling is easier than buying against the downtrend i suppose.

PM in the US is at its 52 week high,no reason imho why the two big tobacco companies in the ftse100 can't do the same.Plenty of runway to get there.Patience.

Bleeding hell, Stalker_Boy, you're 'averaging down' on your short?

What the hell price is your short, if you've been shorting since the start of March, and adding more at 2750 ish is bringing your price down?

Smoking - adding a few more to average down as can see this price burning a hole in some pockets

Well the Fed indicated yesterday that interest rates are going to be near zero until 2024, so it assumes anyway

.. this is why these high divi players are already showing strength imo

Expect this to be above £30 before too long

Oh you brought back some bad memories for me with Burford capital.Carson Block and Muddy Waters began shorting Burford before then taking on NMC health.I bought some NMC health stock when it crashed to around £9 hoping it was just a short attack.Unfortunately NMC health based in UAE has unravelled spectacularly due to suspected fraud and is now in administration.A painful investment lesson learned.Apart from some gold and PGM mining stocks i now only invest in big relatively risk-free companies with high yields. If i see EY has audited the company accounts i now run a mile. After Wirecard,NMC health and Thomas Cook i don't rate EY as an auditor period.

Most enlightening redbaron10.I'm probably protecting my downside in that my largest holding by a long shot is in litigation finance ( mostly Burford Capital) which would have indirectly funded some of the Dieselgate cases in Germany.
If there are big payouts from litigation here,I would expect to benefit. If not,the dividends will do nicely, thank you.

I should say that I'm completely against smoking and would support its banning. However,if people continue to smoke and it remains legal, who am I to object.
That was a rather long-winded and embarrassed admission to investing into BAT and Imperial over the last month. The dividends on offer are just too attractive to ignore.
