Lovely update...."ahead of expectations" is such a beautiful phrase.

So 15% ahead of the board's previous guidance, plus a 2p interim divi now coming our way:

A bearish market....but look at recent dips, on low volume. Once overall mkt starts to stabilise then this should rise imo. It is the only recent long position I have opened, other than that on the sidelines for now other than short bets

What am I missing? What negative factors could the global supply chain have on BMS? I thought this share would be flying to moon. They must have extra work and have and the ability to charge a little bit more for this.

Good fun comment maybe the new non exec helping with the delivery or someone trying just to lift the share without facts perhaps getting guidance from Boris and his great team

Oops, were we supposed to put out a trading update today?

Carol, could you just type something up quickly... make it general... I've mislaid the bit of paper with all the numbers and things on it...

AGM Trading Update

Braemar Shipping Services Plc (LSE: BMS), a leading international Shipbroker and provider of expert advice in shipping investment, chartering, risk management and logistics services, is pleased to make the following trading statement ahead of its Annual General Meeting being held today at 2pm:

'The board is pleased with the financial and operating performance of the Group for the first five months of the year. Trading has been good across all three of the Group's divisions and the breadth of the Group's business model, the diversity of the broking operation and the markets in which the Group now operates, have insulated the business well from any ongoing pandemic weakness. The board is united in seeking to develop further the Group's growth strategy and we look forward to the remainder of the financial year with confidence.'

Business groups are urging the Competition & Markets Authority to investigate the shipping industry over container hire costs which have risen 700% in the past year. Last week container rates from China to the US reached a record high of more than $20,000 for a 40ft box...from today's Times

Yes good call by Brasilia in April - best they now stick to broking cluster

A bit dented by the falling through of wavespec operation and the contingent write off costs of .9m . Looks a buying opportunity to me as trading is confirmed as strong.

Well its an exit of a loss making business for a nominal consideration, so probably positive.

What an appalling RNS.
No detail as to when the letter of credit is to be received by.

No detail as to when the £500k is to be paid.

Perhaps they should have said

" Here have this business and pay us if you can"

A good run but we have to ask why following the hype of a market update did it collapse on the actually update and the presentation by the new team
something really feels odd or maybe I should be in some other sector where the real meets the taster

The share price has had a strong run, so maybe profit taking has come to play. I was thinking of exiting, but I think I will stay aboard. The strategy looks sensible. Dispose of the peripheral business and invest in ship broking which is worth over £100m on its own.

Now I am confused when I ran shipping companies shareholders were happy when we over delivered unless of course a stalker investor wanted to buy it low but cannot believe this is the case here
Just seems odd

Seems the market would prefer trading to be below market expectations.

Agree and seems market less upbeat about loss of Chairman and new strategy with 264 going to to current level and no divi to balance - let's see next few months

pipeline1,

I think the safest thing is to say it's mixed...!

Weird tone to the trading update. I can't work out if it's positive or negative.

Needing to "strengthen the balance sheet" sounds ominous but then they state some figures suggesting they're close to their targeted leverage anyway.

They say trading ahead of expectations but then say the exchange rate is going against them and revenue in sterling terms will drop?

Confusing at best
