Maybe it's the 6% dividend we get, compounding is a very powerfull tool.

When do you envisage the 'prospering' will commence?

Many investors on this thread lived through the GOM disaster and it was a very stressful time. I am very confident that BP will survive and prosper.

Good day Penycae

Is monkey a Francophile?

I am very wary of this market with Greek talks supposedly nearing the end game. We have seen what happens when there is merely a rumour, one can imagine what the result will be when the result is known.

Europe just hit by a wall of money. The joys of QE.
Short CAC 5230. Still short FTSE from 7101. No forex positions at the moment. Euro likely to come off because of that intervention.
Trading full time today, sorry about the commentary. Be off looking after the family jools tomorrow.

Out of the CAC at 5200. Anybody want to buy a monkey?
Tempted with a Euro/$ long. Price starting to firm up. FTSE looks as if they're just taking it up to a point where they can sell it again. Short from 7101.

Oil price has been recovering hence BP tracking but one wonders if they will remain at this price given the lower profit.

Might be a good time to get long on cable (1.5142). Them City boys just started selling some dollars.
Just sayin', so don't bet the farm... Europe wants up.

Morning all.

BP taken over? Well, Tesco is out for the rest of the year. When LIDL starts selling petrol, look out.
In the meantime, the monkey has just put me into a CAC long from 5153. Don't know why, but there it is...

Trade well and prosper.

Aye, our governments (all parties) roll over and cry 'Uncle' every time the US wants us to, or even if they don't. Time we gave that up. The US is headed for a hispanic future anyway, which won't be interested in us at all. 'Historical connections' will count for nothing.

Where was the UK Govt when BP needed and still needs defending against it being used as a piggy bank by the U.S. So called justice/govt system ? Answer, nowhere to be seen , bloody cheek .

Will the dividend be cut?

That (cannot....etc etc.) may be your mindset; certainly not mine.

Anyway on a lighter side I shall be crossing to the UK next month in a thirsty V12 and shall make sure that I support BP ;-)

I agree. You take a view based on your chosen method of analysis which should include entry, target and stop.

The danger comes with a mindset that the share price cannot go higher or lower.

Each to their own.

It is a view. You have to take a judgement - time will tell whether it was a good judgement or not.

The election is a big domestic risk - oil may be less at risk.

"doubt that oil can go lower."
============================

If there is one thing I have learned since I commenced trading it's that a price can always go lower (unless it's at zero) and it can always go higher.

These threads are littered with the 'bodies' of traders who lost their shirts and more with that type of thinking.

Added to my long position - doubt that oil can go lower.
