"I wonder what are diplomatic relations are like between Teeling and Lucara? LUC must have processing facilities in country......"

TC - I would say they none too harmonious.......rightly so JT probably feels like he sat upon a rather large cactus, LUC got an absolute steel in nabbing AK6.

If it had remained in AFD's hands I wouldn t mind betting the share price could well have been north of £10 now.......credit crunch ruined funding

I shouldn't think there is much of a statistical meaning at all, other than it is the best diamond indicator mineral of course.

However if we want to be silly about it we could make the following calculation:-

A 1mm stone is about 0.01 carat.
It came from a 20kg sample.

In 100 tons there are 100,000 kg, so 100 tons would yield 100,000/20 = 5000 samples of that size.

If each had 0.01ct in it that would be 5000 x 0.01 = 50cpht.

leedskier.....I suppose it depends on whether the sample is deemed big enough to be statistically representative....?

Amazing that. Makes one wonder about previous tests.

What is more relevant is what is the statistical probability of only one tiny diamond being found in a kimberlite pipe?

As I understand it from wikipedia kimberlite pipes are the source of most of the world's commercial diamond production, and also contain other precious gemstones and semi-precious stones, such as garnets, spinels, and peridot.

It was explained in an RNS last month.

"We are drilling two holes on AK 22, a known kimberlite containing diamonds. We had expected to have the results from a bulk sample of 80 tons of materials on an adjacent pipe AK 21 but lack of processing capacity in Botswana and issues with a facility in South Africa have to date produced inconclusive results. We are having to re-examine the concentrate as well as analyse fresh core from earlier drillings. "

Euclid today's news is very reassuring! I agree with your comments on Brightstone but it should be a good day for us today with day dreams of another AFD! GLA

The trouble with Maibwe (Brightstone) is that BOD are not in control of when news is released. Notwithsatnding today's news about AK21/22, I still think Maibwe could be a huge plus.

Chap it can't tumble much further as there will be a cash call in March to continue drilling on other licenses if we are unsuccessful on the 4 current operations! I'm assuming they will need a plus 1p price for this to be worth while? Still lots to play for and I am an optimist so let's see GL
