Yes. It's a positive step but more work needs to be done to make bioplastics totally compostable in natural conditions. Earlier this year EU Parliament recognised bioplastic as a alternative to plastic. I think bioplastic will come good. Never will be replacement in 100% to plastic, but some of the products will be made of it in the near future.

There is no single solution to the plastic waste issue. Bioplastics will be a part of the overall solution.

Very interesting piece JMF, I like the idea of turning plastics produced from oil back into oil.

I'd rather invest in a company doing that than one like Biome who are essentially turning agricultural products, potatoes, corn, trees etc. into pretend plastic.

Well Biome has dropped a fair bit on very small volume of trades mostly small sells as investors panic a bit and with a small free float this can have a significant effect on the share price.
I think investors will regret selling at this time.
Although the market is very volitile companies like BIOME are special situations and can make signicant gains if good news is announced that affects their future profitability
Recent news shows how well they are doing and when contract news of one of the major projects comes out the shares will be in for a big rerate. The is also the strong possibility of new news on contracts for their biodiposible products that they specialise in that could come out at any time.
