06/2/2008 00:53 | Just received this by email, oh what a beauty: Subject: monkeys Once upon a time in a village, a man appeared and announced to the villagers that he would buy monkeys for $10 each. The villagers seeing that there were many monkeys around, went out to the forest, and started catching them. The man bought thousands at $10 and as supply started to diminish, the villagers stopped their effort. He further announced that he would now buy at $20. This renewed the efforts of the villagers and they started catching monkeys again. Soon the supply diminished even further and people started going back to their farms. The offer increased to $25 each h and the supply of monkeys became so little that it was an effort to even see a monkey, let alone catch it! The man now announced that he would buy monkeys at $50 ! However, since he had to go to the city on some business, his assistant would now buy on behalf of him. In the absence of the man, the assistant told the villagers. "Look at all these monkeys in the big cage that the man has collected. I will sell them to you at $35 and when the man returns from the city, you can sell them to him for $50 each." The villagers rounded up with all their savings and bought all the monkeys. Then they never saw the man nor his assistant, only monkeys everywhere! Now you have a better understanding of how the stock market works. | johndee
05/2/2008 16:06 | hmm - erx looks another corker from the billam team now. | scrapheap

31/1/2008 00:40 | Mike I see you are still keeping the dream alive long after the pulse has stopped at ERX. Good luck with your investment and yet another placing. The billam holding at ERX is worth nothing now so why sell. | lucky punter
30/1/2008 13:29 | LP, well FWIW you will find that SB has no intention of seeing BLLM divest their interest in ERX anytime soon and for good reason IMO, even though they have been prepared to take hard decisions elsewhere. Are you still applying your dubious approach to research from a data protection and or civil liberties perspective? | mike111d
30/1/2008 10:32 | Mike How much have Bllm actually lost on Erx so far. I do not think the death throws of Erx will in reality make any difference I should imagine they wrote them off long ago. | lucky punter
28/1/2008 12:49 | Looks like ERX is already assisting here? | mike111d
24/1/2008 19:21 | Perhaps their holding in ERX will assist in due course? | mike111d
24/1/2008 19:09 | I'll happily buy more shares in CYH but you won't find me buying any in Billam. Even if their holding in CYH is currently more than the capitalisation of Billam, their past record, in my own humble opinion, is not great and they could easily mess it up or end up using them as securitisation on another loan (not that I'm suggesting they have). CYH is still massively undervalued and I'd rather buy direct into quality rather than via a vehicle. | bearstalker
24/1/2008 17:07 | Still think one day this one may fly up not many shares in isue. | gardenarc
24/1/2008 14:15 | I recall that Billam had an interest in a housing development in Northants through a loan from Simon Wicks. Anybody know what is happening with it, it was set for completion early 2008 with the expectation of good margins. | lucky punter
24/1/2008 12:14 | I assume they are all held by Billam PLC because a Billam AG did hold some Cybit shares at one time. Cybit is massively undervalued, If billam have changed their strategy of backing IPO's and sitting and hoping they may actually make some money. | lucky punter |
