I have never heard of the placing scenario PW mentions either, but I have heard of the one where they start a roadshow and people naked short through their broker and participate in the placing to cover their short, a guaranteed win at the expense of the among term holders. Some, including Vince Cable, call this "liquidity" and justify it that way, where in fact it is devaluing all existing shares for the benefit of the few with good brokers who can execute these things. | ![]() andy | |

The brokers supply the MM with a line of stock to place until a certain amount of money is raised.
