A silver lining for me today...

Sat down to play some FM20

Was greeted with 4 ads from:

Sportsbet.io
Energizer
American Airlines
Monster Energy

Why is this such a big deal?

Because it’s the first time I’ve been personally been served ads and whilst playing Stadia.

Sorry for the shaky video and poor focus. The ads look great though. That’s 4p of our revenue sorted (we hope!).

Good luck Liz - careful with NCYT - looks like a hot potato to me. I expect Bidstack to do something similar if the team do turn the fairytale into reality.

If you think BIDS has a lot of employee costs, I wonder what a public information request would reveal about the proportion of the 100Bn for HS2 that is going to consultants. I've known 20-30% on industrial projects, but bet its 50%, given it costs £1000 a day for a consultant on potholes.

P*sses me off that. Either its a technical problem with temperature/moisture/compound bonding, in which case the tech. must already be known, as we've not had so many problems in the past, or a consultant is needed to measure the effing depth of the things and announce that is a pothole.

Why is it that some heavily used roads here in Brum, have been intact for years and others fall apart after total resurfacing ?

I reckon the answer is in brown paper bags and 'value engineering'.

Well, I am one that bit the bullet today, selling a further 50% of the Bids shares I held in my ISA and put them straight in to NCYT, very happy with my decision and a recoup of some of the loss. Just wish I had done the same with my SIPP.

I still hold a chunk and do believe in the 'story' but feel that at the moment the 'story' seems more like a fairytale.

Extremely disappointed with the conduct of the company to those of us who have held fast with faith and I don't believe we will see much improvement over the next few months. It is going to take a lot more than one RNS to get this moving again as IMO people who may have been watching will have written it off as one to avoid thanks to JD.

As always GLA

7.645p is also a buy price, auto labelling is misleading as ever.

nice to see trades (113) and volume (3m+) a bit more active even if this is a cause/effect relationship with price dropping...

EA into dynamic ads. Second-time lucky or once bitten twice shy?

2008: "EA strongly believes that dynamic in-game advertising is an important growth area for our business, and is one of many opportunities we are pursuing in growing the advertising market," commented Kathy Vrabeck, president of the Casual Entertainment Label at EA.

And just the highlights:

EA's studio leadership team is working with "leaders from the broader industry" who are "changing a philosophy around" how EA creates and monetizes content.

Wilson also isn't ruling out possible partnerships and acquisitions to drive growth in its mobile business. EA is flush with cash -- it ended the fiscal third quarter with $5.6 billion in the bank.

...

Despite that, [Electronic Arts] CEO Andrew Wilson sounded upbeat on the recent earnings call. "I'm more excited now about our mobile pipeline than I have been for a number of years," he said. That optimism might have raised a few eyebrows, but during the call, Wilson also outlined three tactics and strategies the company is focusing on that could help it turn the mobile business around.

1. Improve content monetization

Making money from mobile games can be tricky. The basic strategy in the industry is to release titles for free in the hope that a small percentage of users will want to upgrade how they play and spend money on in-app purchases. Some games may have short windows of popularity, but there are plenty that have staying power and become consistent cash cows for their developers.

...

While EA doesn't have a mega-hit like Candy Crush, management believes they can do a much better job of monetizing their catalog of mobile games. Wilson pointed out that EA's studio leadership team is working with "leaders from the broader industry" who are "changing a philosophy around" how EA creates and monetizes content.

"And you should expect that we'll continue to focus in that area and get more out of the existing mobile titles that actually performed really well in the marketplace and we maybe haven't been as focused on," Wilson said.

...

3. Mobile acquisitions are a possibility

Wilson also isn't ruling out possible partnerships and acquisitions to drive growth in its mobile business. EA is flush with cash -- it ended the fiscal third quarter with $5.6 billion in the bank. Plus, it generated $1.9 billion in operating cash flow over the last year.

...

Mobile revenue makes up less than 10% of EA's business, so the segment's weak performance won't be a deal-breaker for investors looking for growth. But as Wilson said, "Mobile continues to be a focus for us, and we believe there's a growth opportunity ahead."
