05/10/2012 13:11 | Hi Phil nice research on the link. I had a buy on my software a few days ago and have gone long. Base is in and big players are accumulating stock. On the sidelines we have the Japanese Bank tie up and Japan is buying up Gas companies in the States. BG has under performed in the last few months but on a longer basis it has hammered the FTSE Index. I was trading the UNG ETF in the States last week on the move off the bottom. 20/9/2012 20:29 | Still beat Ftse every year but one, and the only loss was 2008, Lehman crash year, and that year was excellent from mid October onwards. 2009 was the year disproves my theory, and I cannot see a reason for that. That said the average gain over Ftse 100 is 2% even when the exceptional 2007 is excluded. I am happy to have gone long today, looking at a three year minimum timeframe. I have also noted that the best time to sell is in the April - June quarter. | lej2
20/9/2012 19:23 | I don't see it like that: ..........BG........ .....20-Sep.31-Dec.. 2006 645.5 693 7.36%.......... 5866.2 6220.8 6.04% 2007 848.8 1150 35.49%........ 6429 6456.9 0.43% 2008 1125 957 -14.93%......... 5311.3 4434.2 -16.51% 2009 1111 1122 0.99%.......... 5134.4 5437.6 5.91% 2010 1114 1296 16.34%......... 5602.5 5899.9 5.31% 2011 1276.5 1376.5 7.83%...... 5363.7 5572.3 3.89% | miata
20/9/2012 15:15 | I am no chartist as will be obvious from my post. Every year from 2007 to 2011 BG has finished the year well up on the average September share price The chart for 2012 looks like a reasonable match to the chart for 2011. I guess that the northern hemisphere winters will have an effect on Gas reserves, but surely this has always been known and wouldn't account for the rising share price Am I missing something? Or is this just the old St Leger day hypothesis born out by chance in this share. | lej2
16/9/2012 09:02 | I hope bloody well hope somebody does; they would get it cheaply at the moment. GS have it as a conviction Buy and on the basis of prodution from 2014/2015- 2018 it's very cheap indeed. | philo124
15/9/2012 23:19 | Japan is on the prowl wants lots of gas could it bid ? | stavros28
07/9/2012 16:21 | The fact that they were able to place that many surely underpins the price , but what do I know? Anyway , whoever purchased them has already made 4% on the deal. | bionicdog

05/9/2012 13:04 | it's making a bit of a recovery now, but my graph of weekly prices still looks pessimistic with a long-term double top and a more recent dead cross. however anything can happen - especially when the oil price and exploration success / failure are involved. I still hold some but I'm not going to add on this dip. | bigbertie
05/9/2012 13:01 | is the smart money getting out | the bear man |
