06/11/2023 21:37 | The share price has languished around £5 mark for a long time and in fact it’s no higher than 10 years ago. I can’t help wondering if it’s a sector-wide issue or some problem specific to the company. | bathcoup
25/10/2023 08:41 | AG Barr has continued an acquisition spree which is reducing the company’s reliance on its renowned IRN BRU brand with a deal worth more than £10m. The company is paying £12.3m to buy the Rio fruit drinks brand from the Hall and Woodhouse pubs and brewing business. The deal underlines the potential that Cumbernauld-based AG Barr sees in Rio. It comes ten months after AG Barr acquired distribution rights for Rio through the acquisition of the Boost energy drinks business for up to £32m. AG Barr’s chief executive Roger White said the company had moved quickly to secure the long-term position of the Rio brand within its wider portfolio. He said the deal allowed AG Barr to realise the benefits of full brand ownership and support Rio's continued growth, adding: “This acquisition is a further positive indication of our strategic ambitions." The strategy involves extending AG Barr’s portfolio to increase its exposure to markets that directors reckon have long term growth potential. This will reduce the company’s reliance on the core IRN BRU brand. | scotches

26/9/2023 19:21 | Russ Mould, investment director at AJ Bell, said: "Given the wet weather and the impact this could have had on demand, this is a highly creditable outcome and suggests the company's portfolio of products retains strong appeal. "The affordable luxury of a soft drink is the kind of purchase people are less likely to put off even if they're feeling the squeeze and, if they like the brand, they're unlikely to be discouraged by a few pence being added to the purchase price." 26/9/2023 17:29 | Excellent set of results, you couldn't ask for much more from the management, just disappointing that the exchequer took all the additional profit. A pretty clear indication of how investment is going to suffer if we don't get CT rates back down sharpish | makinbuks

03/8/2023 12:35 | Very much in agreement with that, below £5 its a strong buy. The trading rage is £5 - £6 but its going to take some time to get to the top of that. 03/8/2023 10:34 | Liberum predicts AG Barr rerating despite CEO departure Irn-Bru maker AG Barr (BAG) should enjoy a rerating once the transitory inflation impact is filtered through, says Liberum. Analyst Wayne Brown reiterated his ‘buy’ recommendation and target price of 600p on the Citywire Elite Companies plus-rated stock, which nudged up 0.2%, or 1p, to 484p on Wednesday. The group reported first-half like-for-like growth of 10% driven by both volume and price increases, although it did announce the resignation of chief executive Roger White after more than 21 years. Brown said the retirement will be a ‘major loss’ as the group had been ‘transformed from a regional soft drinks business into a highly successful multi-beverage, branded company’ under White. ‘We hope that the performance and returns-focused culture built under him will stay with the group,’ Brown said. ‘We upgrade our 2023 estimates by 5% and continue to see significant potential for growth and margin expansion once the transitionary impacts of inflation, which should drive significant earnings growth and a rerating.’ citywire.com | philanderer |
