14/5/2010 12:39 | Regarding capital gains tax, we might pay it on shares but I have it from the Lib Dems themselves that if you are selling your business then you are safe. This was in answer to my question to my local LibDem candidate about how they proposed to tax my ill-gotten gains from any future sale of my business: "While I don't have the exact details at my finger tips, I can tell you with certainty that as part of the changes to capital gains tax, that we have included the equivalent of the current entrepreneurs relief. The purpose of this change is not to punish people who work hard and take risks to build businesses, that is of course something that needs to be encouraged the change is intended to "catch" market speculation where the hard work involved in running a small business is not involved!" Why am I now not quite so reassured? | jungle jim | |
