The Republic of Ireland men's and women's teams will receive the same match fees on international duty, with immediate effect.

The Football Association of Ireland (FAI) said the "historic" move was made after talks including team captains Seamus Coleman and Katie McCabe.

The Republic men's fees will be reduced with the FAI matching that contribution to level the match payments.

This is insane. Women's football is pub team standard.

Alphorn. The most disagreeable big headed idiot on these threads. I unfiltered him to see what he was up to this time. He's back on filter now.

There are a variety of reasons, but the shortage of drivers has forced up wages.

As the work attracts more UK drivers, things will stabilise.

BTW, average pay for drivers at Heathrow is £27,402. Most of the driving work is not LGV though.

Isn't it also partly because truckers without jobs during the lockdown moved on?

Hope the governor's at Heathrow are looking at these figures as most of the cargo drivers are on minimum wage.

Eastern European drivers came here because they could earn more money than in their own countries. This depressed wages for UK drivers due to the laws of supply and demand.

Don't pretend that you do not understand that.

So according to that only the UK was impacted? They were/are higher paid in the other 27 countries?
..........how does that work?

The answer that you are looking for is that 'it doesn't'.

I was talking to a haulage manager the other day. He says that there would not be a problem if the EU had not held down British wages by enabling Eastern European workers to come over and depress wages. Now that drivers can get what they are worth, people who had their snouts in the trough are grumbling about it.

Waitrose lorry drivers on £53,000 a year

This is proof that mass immigration is suppressing wages. A fair day's wage for a fair day's work. Instead of a race to the bottom and pay the lowest wage possible..Businesses are finally acknowledging that EU cheap labour is gone. In the long run this will benefit UK workers in a lot more industries too. Brexit bonus

Waitrose lorry drivers are earning more than lawyers and architects as salaries soar above £53,000 amid national shortage

housing wealth is not earned anymore, a fully agree with higher IHT tax, while stockmarket tax should be tax free.

just look at all the housing props by taxpayers, help to buy, stamp duty cuts, 50% of pension freedom cash going into housing(this is a tax on shareholders), 0% base rates,

i want to see just how tough this housing market is, REMOVE all government support, i dont believe in socialism.
