Manics : Monday looked quite good for barc, but the last 3 days have been very poor.

My rose tinted glasses trade doesn't look particularly inspiring now ... market seems to be in the summer blues period , guess the money question is at what level does barc bounce ?

Russ Mould, investment director at AJ Bell, says:

Miners and banks are the principal sectors weighing on the index, suggesting that investors have started to worry again about the strength of the economic recovery.

Miners’ fortunes are heavily tied to commodity prices and the cost of metals and minerals is typically determined by supply and demand for industrial projects around the world.

“Banks are also heavily influenced by economic activity. A strong period of growth means there could be greater opportunities to lend money to businesses and such a backdrop might also point to rising interest rates which increases the chance for the banking sector to make higher profit margins. If the economic outlook is not as strong, then investors start to go off banks for fear that it will be harder for them to push up earnings.

Rudder: costs are up at CEY. Problems with subsidence at the mine. Their only operational mine. They had a profit warning last year and guidance on production also fell.Out of BARC for now on the sidelines.

China is cracking down on data privacy. That's terrible news for some of its biggest tech companies

Analysis by Laura He, CNN Business

Didi isn't the only Chinese company now entering Beijing's line of fire. Two other businesses that recently listed in New York — truck-hailing company Full Truck Alliance and job listing firm Kanzhun — have been singled out by Chinese regulators as targets of a probe "to prevent national data security risks." Their stocks have fallen 11% and 12%, respectively, this week.

The speculation over the timing of BoE's taper support and reduction could mean share prices dropping. I think it could mean fund managers will use this quarter to hedge their bets.

US Fed minutes reveal divisions but money flow set to continue

At the meeting 13 of 18 participants revised their projections for interest rates—the so-called “dot plot”—indicating they expected rates to rise in 2023, rather than 2024. Seven expected a rise next year. In March most officials thought rates would remain at their current rate of near zero throughout 2023.
