Trade pact doubts grow as India criticises China

SINGAPORE: Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar on Monday criticised China for what he described as one-sided trade policies, casting doubt over the progress of negotiations for a pan-Asian free trade agreement.

Speaking during a panel discussion in Singapore, the minister said India remained sceptical over “unfair” market access and “Chinese protectionist policies” that have created a significant trade deficit between the two nations. India’s trade deficit with China was $53.6 billion in the fiscal year ended March 2019.

PPI is over – but are you owed thousands for these three other mis-selling scandals?

Sam Meadows

The door finally slammed shut on the PPI mis-selling scandal last month, after banks were flooded with millions of complaints.

RBS has said it expects to pay out an extra £900m on top of the £5.3bn it had already ring-fenced, thanks to the rush.

New City Agenda, a consumer think tank, said if this were replicated at other banks, Barclays and Lloyds could be saddled with extra bills of £1bn and £2bn.

The end of PPI does not sound the death knell for claims firms – or for customers seeking recompense for deals they were mis-sold. Here are three other areas where consumers could be in line for a refund.

At least Boris is trying to honour the instruction given to Parliament by the people. There is no such thing as "Parliamentary Democracy", which is currently being spouted by Remoaner MPs to cover the fact they don't want to honour the referendum result.

Anger at £98m UK aid for India

ANGER erupted last night over Britain’s promise to hand £98million to India – a country now distributing more foreign aid than it receives. The Department for International Development said the UK will transfer £52million this year and £46million in 2019/20 as part of a controversial aid budget which now costs £13.4billion a year.
