johnwise...post 119678....anybody remember when Carney was appointed & the media were full of praise...respectable Canadian joining BOE blah blah blah...if you have a bit of the gaff you join the exclusive club...

By keeping interest at zero all it has done is house prices gone to the moon...at least in London & the surrounding areas....about time the system has a complete separate interest rate setting for mortgages only...

Well I'll be betting on rate rises if Carney leaves. That's good news for banks.

Wrong leaves on line?..

In all the time Carney has been in this role he has achieved absolutely nothing except milk it for all it is worth, the guy is not up to the task and it clearly shows in both his actions and statements, he should be booted out without delay and the job given to some able home grown talent capable of taking the helm. Make him pay back the £300k travel expenses incurred for his holiday trips before he leaves.

Nothing has happened yet so I continue to be amazed about the comments on the 'post Brexit' economy. Are people that naive?

Remain long Barclays btw.

personally I hope he stays - much better than Mr King was, who was more politically biased than Carney....

Carney, like most of the economists under estimated the strength of the economy. But we haven't left the union yet and invoked article 50....Only long term will we be able to tell if they got it right or wrong.

This is just another right wing media purge.....

Although I hope that when he does decide to leave he spills the beans to prove the political interference he has had to endure....

Great news, provided Mr Carney is NOT going to receive a taxpayer funded 'compensation' payoff, or a mention in the next dis-honours list. As Governors go, he has been less than inspiring, and has proven to be a follower rather than an innovator. A serial failure in this post..They all use, " leaving for family reasons", when they FAIL at their job. It,s as good an excuse as any.

Mark Carney could quit his Bank of England role within DAYS after his 'Project Fear' predictions were repeatedly proven wrong

Bank of England to shelve record rate cut and QE as UK economic growth holds up well after Brexit vote.

The Bank of England will shelve plans to cut rates towards zero and charge up quantitative easing after UK economic growth defied expectations over the summer.

Despite warnings that uncertainty over Brexit would hit the economy, gross domestic product increased 0.5 per cent in the quarter to the end of September.

It reflects badly on us as a nation how popular they are and more so on the individuals that subscribe to their vitriol and awful, inaccurate stories.

I went to a talk last year by Christopher Jefferies who was pretty much accused of the murder of a local student (he was her wild haired landlord). Basically they just made a lot of it up, claiming "a source" said when they had no evidence whatsoever. He won a libel case, but it screwed his life. They ( star/express/mail) apologised in court, but they were only sorry they got caught.

Free press is essential, but equally so a a responsible one.
