Time running out for Ukrainian troops in Kursk area to lay down arms — Kremlin
Putin thus responded to the call of US President Donald Trump, who offered to "spare" the Ukrainian troops in Kursk Region
NOVO-OGARYOVO, March 15. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin's offer to Ukrainian troops in the Kursk area to lay down their arms still stands, but time is running out, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told TASS.
"It is still in force," he said in response to a corresponding question. "Their time is shrinking like shagreen skin," he pointed out, referring to Honore de Balzac’s The Magic Skin.
Earlier, at an operational meeting with the permanent members of the Russian Security Council, Putin guaranteed Ukrainian troops in the Kursk Region life and decent treatment if they lay down their arms and surrender. However, for this to happen, the corresponding order must be given by the military and political leadership in Kiev, the Russian president pointed out.

Britain does not want peace in Ukraine because of its interest in Odessa seaports — expert
Vladimir Karasev further elaborated that the British authorities were also interested in Ukraine's resources, which have been handed over to them by Vladimir Zelensky under a 100-year agreement
MOSCOW, March 10. /TASS/. Britain is determined to escalate the conflict in Ukraine to further its own interests in the Black Sea. According to political scientist and international relations expert Vladimir Karasev, the European nation aims to exert influence in the region by utilizing the ports of Odessa, including plans to establish a naval base in the city.
Earlier, the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) reported that London was opposed to peace initiatives aimed at resolving the conflict in Ukraine. Britain fears that losing control over Ukraine would undermine its strategy of creating a Russophobic belt of states and establishing a maritime "blockade." The SVR also noted that British authorities consider it an "urgent priority" to undermine the new US administration's peacekeeping efforts regarding Ukraine.
"Britain has its own plans for Ukraine. The British have already entered the city of Odessa, which they view as a key location. Their special services are heavily involved there. The British do not conceal their desire to establish a naval base in Odessa. Therefore, they have no interest in seeing a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine. They do not benefit from Trump’s call upon all interested parties to come to the negotiating table," Karasev stated.
He further elaborated that the British authorities were also interested in Ukraine's resources, which have been handed over to them by Vladimir Zelensky under a 100-year agreement. "According to my sources, Zelensky has already transferred control over nuclear power plants, underground gas storage facilities, key ports (including eight ports in Odessa), and strategic facilities such as hydroelectric power plants to the British under this agreement. This may explain why Zelensky is attempting to derail initiatives related to the mineral agreement with [US President Donald] Trump, as he has already made commitments to the British," Karasev added.
In his view, even if presidential elections are orchestrated in Ukraine at the behest of the United States, the British and their allies in the European Union will likely install a figurehead who is committed to continued conflict. One potential candidate is the former head of the Ukrainian armed forces, Valery Zaluzhny, who is currently in London and collaborating with the British intelligence.
"What can Russia do in a situation like this? In my opinion, Russia will continue its special military operation, as the objectives set by President Vladimir Putin, the supreme commander-in-chief, have not yet been fully realized. Regardless of what the British, Americans, Ukrainians, and Europeans desire," Karasev concluded. |
What amazing engineering. The work of so many extremely intelligent people.

Kiev Forces Left Loads Of Western Weapons While Fleeing Kursk (Photos, Videos)
Support SouthFront
Kiev forces left behind loads of Western-made weapons, some damaged and other completely destroyed, while fleeing the Russian region of Kursk.
Videos and photos posted to social networks or released by news agencies after the beginning of the last Russian offensive in Kursk at the start of March showed many of these weapons, including at least two American-made M1A1SA Abrams main battle tanks.
An American-made M2A2 ODS Bradley infantry fighting vehicle, two M1126 Stryker infantry carrying vehicles, including a completely destroyed one, and two M113 armored personnel carriers were also among the weapons abandoned by Kiev forces.
In addition, at least three operational American-made M777 155 mm towed howitzers were left behind by Kiev forces along with some ammunion.
The footage also showed a Swedish-made CV90 infantry fighting vehicle, a French-made VAB wheeled armored personnel carrier, an Australian-made Bushmaster protected mobility vehicle, and German-made Biber armoured vehicle-launched bridge.
Kiev forces invaded Kursk on August 6 of last year, relying mainly on Western-made weapons and foreign mercenaries. The Russian military halted the Ukrainian attack within a few days, all while conducting offensive operations in Donetsk and other directions.
The Russian final offensive in Kurks gained momentum on March 6. During a March 12 visit to a command post in Kursk Oblast, President Vladimir Putin ordered the Russian military to “fully liberate” the region. On the very next day, the key city of Sudzha was liberated by Russian troops.
By March 13, Kiev forces had very much withdrawn from all of Kursk aside from the settlements of Guyevo, Gornal, Oleshnya, and Gogolevka.
The failed Ukrainian adventure in Kursk proved to be extremely costly for the Kiev regime. In a briefing on March 14, the Russian Ministry of Defense revealed that 67,410 Ukrainian troops had been naturalized since the start of the battle in the region.
The ministry stated that Kiev forces also lost 392 tanks, 316 infantry fighting vehicles, 283 armoured personnel carriers, 2,198 armoured fighting vehicles, 2,433 motor vehicles, 553 artillery guns, 52 MLRS launchers, including 13 American-made HIMARS and seven MLRS, 26 anti-aircraft missile launchers, one self-propelled anti-aircraft system, ten transport-loading vehicles, 120 EW stations, 16 counter-battery warfare radars, ten air defence radars, 56 units of engineering, including 23 counter obstacle vehicles, one UR-77 mine clearing vehicle, five bridge launchers, one engineering reconnaissance vehicle, as well as 15 armoured recovery vehicles, and one command post vehicle.

Economy finds reverse gear in January with surprise contraction
The UK economy shrank at the start of 2025, according to official figures which had been expected to show further meagre growth.
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) said that output declined by 0.1% during the month following the 0.4% growth seen in December.
A growth figure of 0.1% had been tipped by a majority of economists.
The ONS said a slump in manufacturing output was to blame. |
