It just said if you stick with bango you will be in for a very rough ride ,it’s now Down less than what I paid fo it ,I have to do some very serious thinking whether I stay with this or not ,it needs constant news and what they tell us just isn’t enough ,one thing for certain is I won’t be buying any more ,boku is exactly the same ,very disappointing !

amt , page 35 in today’s investors chronicle states if you invest in bango you have to be prepared for significant volatility to your portfolio ,they’ve got that right ,

Perhaps they are funding AFC energy which I discovered today and invested in as a punt. Holding onto Bango though as a safe longterm investment

Herald is an investment trust so doesn't have outflows most likely funding better opportunities / cash raising by companies As this is a big holding it will occasionally be a source of funds if there is demand I suspect

Ya it is below the price before it announced the Softbank deal...anyway markets nowadays r not entirely logical about how they price assets...eventually though it should move to its intrinsic value.

Surprised it has come back this far. Maybe market is thinking Coronavirus is nearing its end which actually isnt bad for Bango and Boku though Market probably does. Where is Chimers when you need him.

After some thought, think price action is because of Herald selling a big chunk...not necessarily because of Bango itself...but more of a portfolio decision...years of underperformance in UK small caps probably leading to outflows, with all the liquidity chasing the big momentum names...so Herald probably chose to raise cash by selling some of the winners...but with this recent trading update, the pathway to GBP 3-6 in 1.5 years is very clear, pending any unexpected surprises...the past few updates showed much less visibility.

Yes amt, we still need bean counters to keep us in check, however without Visionaries such as Richard Branson, James Dyson and here Ray Anderson we wouldn't progress. As we face the prospects of the greatest economic depression the World has known with nothing but doom and gloom around us it is comforting to find we still have a positive option to choose from, Bango. Like our political choices the stock market appears to be a matter of choosing the least horrible. At least the future of Bango appears bright, it is only a matter of how bright. Discussion here appears to focus on rather will we make double or triple on our investment, and how long that is likely to take.

Zoom video has a pe of 1500 plus by the way so our friend would presumably think that valuation was ridiculous.

Yes but not the swearing and educated. Sounds like pompous city analyst talk to me. People who think they know it all but basically are bean counters who have no flare for getting excited about what the business is about. That's one of the problems with the people who make investment decisions and why the UK has so many great small companies but don't flourish with such negativity. Its time to be less obsessed by bald numbers and realise that Bango is growing at an astonishing rate and is de-risked as generating cash and understand what the business is actually doing.
My portfolio is up over 500% since 2000 and that's as an amateur investor beating the vast majority of vastly overpaid City professionals.

amt, WinthorpeIII clearly bases his nickname on Dan Ackroyd's character in the film Trading Places. I picture him at the point Winthorpe III is a drunken mess dressed as Santa Claus to obtain entry into the stockbroking firm's Christmas party greedily grabbing everything from the buffet table and stuffing into his greasy mouth, who then proceeds to stuff a whole smoked salmon down the front of his trousers before attempting to commit suicide in the pouring rain - he was such a failure that he failed at that (the gun failed to go off).

I'm just stating the facts as presented by their paid for research provider. And focusing on gross cashflow (which EBITDA is) is a fools errand without looking at cash costs of the business that fall below that line. Talk about amateur hour.

Describing the earnings as poor quality is utter rubbish. There are huge barriers to entry and we can already look a year ahead based on current infrastructure put in place. You can't just look at a few numbers and draw conclusions. I have been following Bango for over a decade and understand the business. Good luck with your investments. I can imagine you would have looked at Google when it was in its early stages and thought a pe of 200 was overvalued.

Winthorpzell for me cash generation is the most important feature in a companies results. I use ebitda because that matches cash generation more closely. Its just lazy to look at superficial numbers and not be prepared to dig into the detail.
A couple of years out there won't be much difference between the two anyway.
It's utter nonsense just to look at a tiny profit and calculate a pe ratio of 150 and think that means the company is overvalued. Nobody makes money through such a superficial approach.
