Thanks for that Matthew. Already done well with this one and looking for plenty more upside and a useful divi too. With two substantial contract wins in the last couple of weeks, BAB must be doing something right!

Two broker updates today - a 'neutral' and a 'hold' both at 750p - which is disappointing compared to all those much higher when I bought in heavily a year back with no degeneration in the core business - these maybe initiated the price drop despite a new order. The book is full so, re the shorting, maybe it's a speculative view about debt and margins - ie how much 'going wrong' headroom is there - certainly that did for Carillion and nearly Balfour Beatty before that. I obviously hope that won't be an issue, pass me the Kalms.

As I said, only a matter of time for long term holders. In the short term traders could send the share price lower but I can wait. 9000 shares at an average price of 6.86 I have and I am confident of a good outcome. Fundamentals are good.

Level of short trades seems high and risen quickly end of 2017. Currently 5% of shares shorted.Thoughts?

Another large contract, £115M, and the share price goes down! Another nice buying opportunity, I suppose.

Yes, I can see you don't give a monkey's but my request for information was about the % figures; is that the percentage of total issued stock?! If so, it's an enormous amount of money and that just seems unlikely, but maybe it is. Somebody explain if you know please because net searches are fruitless so far.

Personally, I don't give a monkey's! The more shorts there are yet to close their positions the better - love a short squeeze! Shorts have no more - or less - insight than longs. My contrarian view is that if there weren't such reckless shorts, then I wouldn't profit so much from my long positions.

Would someone explain to me whether the 4+% of disclosed short positions is concerning - I understand the principal of shorting but I don't understand the percentage figures; surely it can't be a percentage of total issued stock because 4+% would be an enormous figure. Obviously it can't be good that any pro has a negative view but is 4+% concerning? I'm up to my ears in this share because it seemed stable a year ago.

Peel Hunt downgrade BAB this am. From 1085p (May) to 751p. Considering they (along with all the other brokers) got it so wrong last time around... Personally I'd be happy to see 750p as I don't think we'll be there anytime soon.

Thanks for your reply. It would be interesting to know why you think these companies are worth shorting and what is on your list.

I have BAB, BAE and RR. as core holdings (long).

I also have Boeing and United Technologies in the US.

Thanks for the links. I did originally read those articles. Bryce Elder is someone who I regard highly at the FT.

He didn't write the article to which the Investor Relations Director replied to.

I think the concern about accounting is a non-issue here. They have already stated they meet IFRS 15 and that is the end of that. I agree that their accounting is relatively conservative to other outsourcers and they are being branded unfairly with a bad bunch.

The fact there has to be NO adjustments can't be underestimated. I think it is very commendable in this day and age and shouldn't go unnoticed.

Not to worry 1spotter, I posted the links. The share price imo has now gone down too low. Not a share to short now imo.

Well, last year's dogs often turn into the next year's stars... and there's only a few trading days of 2017 left now. Onwards and upwards!! Looking forward to big recoveries in BAB, GSK and PFC, to name but three.
