Frankly, yump, I've made very good profits over the last few years by being contrarian. Didn't Warren Buffet says something like 'you never make money buying popular shares'?

I've just remembered something an acquaintance of of mine said who made a pot of money from being contrarian - "the more pain and fear you feel, the more money you'll make" or something like that. Although presumably some of his investments went bust, but the rest must have recovered much more.

Agreed Woodhawk! For the life of me, can't understand what collective forces can drive a good company"s share price so low?

Good to see the share price moving up and closing at the day's high. Strange there's so little comment here. A lot of stale investors nursing loses?

I don't post much these days but I have recently bought quite a few of these shares at an average of 685 - showing a loss at the moment, but that will change in time - low PE ratio and good dividend, with lots of guaranteed revenue imo. Only a matter of time imo before the share price rises again. It will happen and I am patient :-)

I wouldn't take those as gospel, Dave. Even I can buy at the bid and sell at the offer - so a lot of that information is totally suspect. Many large trades are also delayed reportings, to further muddy the waters. Those Advfn guesses can be misleading. Nevertheless, let's hope it is onwards and upwards from here anyway!!

https://uk.advfn.com/p.php?pid=trades&symbol=L%5EBAB 10m more buys than sells. Is this the start of shorters having to buy back?

"This demonstrates that the Group continues to maintain a conservative contract accounting approach." Which I believe it does and the share price isn't reflecting as such.

I'll be a lot happier when this is back over seven quid.

From the Briefing Paper, 2nd February 2017: The Royal Navy's new frigates and the National Shipbuilding Strategy: February 2017 update: "The Parker report recommends ➡️ both classes ⬅️ be brought into service early in the 2020s. Parker described the Type 26’s as critical for the Royal Navy and argued the ➡️ Type 31s should be considered an ‘urgent project’.n13;️

Seem cheap to me. Bought in at around 690. I can wait until sense prevails. Coming out of the FTSE100, exdiv and out of favour can't help - but only a matter of time before the share price rises imo!

Thanx Minerve for reassuring rational thoughts - I've been investing a long time so know there's always volatility in more speccy sectors and always avoided them but the last six months has been a raffle. Solid value, like talent, will out (sooner or) later.

Excellent posts - many thanks for your considered views! Makes a pleasant change to a lot of the drivel on some of these boards.

Minerve. Good post. Computers are now doing the trading . Fundamentals have gone out of the window. I don't know what the answer is except to grind it out and hope that old style investment principles return. Meanwhile I can live at 4% .

My hunch, fwiw, is that this is the final capitulation stage of the long decline since early 2014. The share price has now fallen more than 50% over that period.I usually find it most rewarding to buy shares when they are very unloved - like this. I just hope I'm not too premature.
