morning all............good weekend???????? decent start to the week so far........the US jobless figure and renewed improved confidence seems to be kicking in............M&A starts off with a biggie for SAP...........guess that'll increase the amount of downstream work for companies reliant...........

also Atos Orgin reports two companies now with a 19% combined holding.........and plenty of blue around today..............

"The company will offer 42 euros in cash for each Business Objects share, 20 percent more than the closing price on Oct. 5 in Paris, SAP said in a statement late yesterday. Business Objects, based in the Paris suburb of Levallois-Perret, is the world's largest maker of software to track corporate databases.

Business Object shares were suspended from trading until 11 a.m. in Paris, according to the exchange.

`Will to Consolidate'

``Companies still have the will to consolidate,'' said Guillaume Duchesne, a strategist at Fortis Private Banking, which oversees the equivalent of $80 billion in Luxembourg. ``We'll still have some support from this.''

Atos Origin SA rose 3.5 percent to 43.1 euros. Pardus Capital Management LLC and Centaurus Capital Ltd. lifted their combined stake in France's second-largest computer-services provider to 19.4 percent from an unspecified holding previously. "

Interesting week - whether you are on the bottle or engaging in amateur astrology, I have not read any convincing answer as to why the share price should drop so much.

It has to be MMs accumulating by tree shaking. If I am right, I think they will pump it up next week with sufficient noise to alert the crowd.

Software provider Aveva gave a bullish statement a couple of days
ago and their shares have jumped!!
I would think Axon might do the same on a bit of positive news.
Anyone out there prepared to do a price comparison in detail?
Software seems to be in favour!!

Fieldhouse

I haven't got time to stick the two on one chart. You can do that on ADVFN of course. But you can compare the two easily enough via the link below. Use the menu to find the two companies and click on Charts. Remember that if the log value crosses any 3 adjacent grid spaces the price has doubled. Performance of the two is indeed comparable.

Aveva issued an upwards profit warning yesterday.

U.S. Stock-Index Futures Rise; Alcoa, Citigroup Gain in Europe

By Marco Bertacche

Oct. 5 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. stock-index futures climbed as investors speculated the government's job report today will signal a recovery.

Alcoa Inc., the world's largest aluminum maker, and Citigroup Inc., the biggest U.S. bank, advanced in Europe. Pall Corp. rose after the maker of industrial filters reported preliminary sales figures that beat analysts' estimates.

Standard & Poor's 500 Index futures expiring in December added 3 to 1,555.2 as of 9:55 a.m. in London. Dow Jones Industrial Average futures gained 23 to 14,064. Nasdaq-100 Index futures increased 3.75 to 2,126.75.

``It's getting reasonable again out there and the jobs data can consolidate this restored confidence,'' said Luca Peviani, who helps manage the equivalent of about $1.4 billion of hedge funds at P&G Sgr in Rome.

Non-farm payrolls grew by 100,000 last month after a 4,000 decrease in August, according to the median estimate of economists surveyed by Bloomberg News. The Labor Department report is due at 8:30 a.m. in Washington.

U.S. stocks advanced yesterday, led by utilities. The Dow Jones average climbed to a record this week. The measure has rallied 8.8 percent since touching a four-month low on Aug. 16, after banks including Citigroup signaled the worst of the credit crisis may be over.
