09/9/2008 16:18 | Like I said, the "MANAGEMENT" here need "EDUCATION" | hvs
04/9/2008 14:36 | hello hvs, are you back in DLTA? looks a nice break above 115p | wipo1
04/9/2008 14:30 | None of the Directors or any management has ever been to Harvard, Harrow or even Hartly Pool Polly. Bought more today but the buy is not showing | ch1ck
04/9/2008 13:25 | lol!!!! Looks like the managment need to go back to "HARVARD" for some "education" | hvs
29/8/2008 14:15 | The price has not started to get moving many more up days to go I can see a quick move to 100p if there is any new on the US deal then the syk is the limit | ch1ck
28/8/2008 14:27 | hvs, Why are you bothered? You don't hold this stock....what's the fascination? | mikey34
28/8/2008 14:01 | lol !!! You mean the management are seeking to destruct still more shareholder value. Will they deliver or will there "unforseen delays"? How can a delivery of USD 2mill per year for 5 years result in anything "significant" unless we are talking of returing to profit with perhaps £ 50K ? | hvs
28/8/2008 13:47 | A bit of good news | mikey34
28/8/2008 13:33 | I think we have forgotten that Avon have other products in production, the £10 mill order for fuel cells announced today is very good news. This may draw in new investors who will see the potential of the US gas mask deal as the real incentive to purchase and hold the stock. It also means that this is not a one trick pony and hopefully the management are seeking aditional income streams | ch1ck
09/8/2008 18:50 | The competence of management has to be called into question here. The promise held out by the gas mask contract seems to recede like a mirage in the desert. Delays in the placement of Govt contracts are one thing and understandable, but why on earth were AVON not using this additional time to sort out their production problems? In May they said - "Difficulties with producing filters supplied with M50 respirators on the low rate initial production order contributed to cost overruns in the new Cadillac facility which delayed delivery of complete systems to the customer. Good progress has been made on resolving these production problems......" Well, not good enough progress apparently - 8/8/08 "Avon Rubber also said it has experienced continuing start up production issues relating to mask systems, which are to be supplied to the US Department of Defense" So, years after jumping all the hurdles of selection, development and contract delays we now struggle because we can't actually deliver the product which the client has ordered in increased numbers and is willing to pay for. The added salt in the wound is the suspension of the dividend. Is anyone in AVON actually accountable for this? Someone there needs a poke with a sharp stick IMHO. Regards, Ian | jeffian
08/8/2008 22:30 | Not all is lost but delayed by a year at least if we are lucky | jarjar
08/8/2008 19:47 | what a terrible announcement debt is a major issue as well as filter production issues only way can see any upside is from takeover but DOD contracts could be sticking point regards who could take them over what a disappiontment sold all my holding this am at a substantial loss and cant even offset losses as held in isa and was so promising when got military contract should have flown what a mess | roomey
08/8/2008 08:56 | Like I said a shower of "MANAGEMENT" and they has to pay back the debt. But off course BONUSES first. | hvs
08/8/2008 08:21 | only recently increased there uk borrowing facility to £17.5m | roomey
08/8/2008 07:13 | what an apalling statement, (new guidance: debt and costs, up, sales, and profits, down) surely they must fall very sharply on this news? | ydderf
13/7/2008 11:11 | Jeffian there are US competors for AVON but the good news is that the Avon product is recognised as the best in the world and is the prefered choice of the US military as the available US product is more clumbersome and uncomfortable. Having said this your comments are correct we may not see a significant move on this share now untill there is concrete proof things are in full production and payments show on the balance sheet. I am still buying on weakness with any price below 100p great news. | ch1ck
24/6/2008 23:36 | One of the things which may have unsettled this is the situation at Cobham (part of the EADS flight refuelling consortium). One minute you win a tender from the US arms procurement process - and then the politicians step in and the next minute you don't. I don't think that AVON have a US competitor or are likely to lose the gas mask contract but it hardly helps sentiment, does it? What's the point of pitching for a US contract if the politicos say it's got to go to a US outfit whatever the result? Maybe the Euro commissioners should adopt a similarly robust approach instead of worrying about bent cucumbers! Regards, Ian | jeffian
24/6/2008 19:33 | hvs, You really do take the biscuit. You love to jump on a BB where there has been a fall and come up with your repetitive, simpleton comments.I suggest you should spend more time doing research on the stocks you own, such as, dare I WHISPER it ., GFRD....still "accumulating"?????? | mikey34
23/6/2008 19:52 | The appointment of Andrew Lewis in the fincial role is a good sign. Rotork is a local Bath based company with international links to the oil support industry. The share price seems to be steady at these levels. The next move hope fully will be +120 after that 160p looks logical. I dont know why there has been no instutional interest. I would imaging once income comes in from the US order it will be a mad scramble. | ch1ck
09/6/2008 11:34 | Thanks Jeffian | grigor
09/6/2008 11:26 | The conclusion by IC was "News of the big respirator contract is welcome. On the basis of 2008-9 earnings of 12.4p, the shares trade on a PE ratio of 8. A recovery buy." However, in the body of the report on results they say "Broker Arden forecasts continuing profits (after discounting big writedowns in the latest results) to fall this year from £3.25m to £1m, then rise to £6m in 2008-9, when dividends are expected to resume". Although I hold them, I have to say that the market is being unforgiving to even those companies that are making profits and paying divis, so any PER/divi based on forecast profits a year out with an anticipated fall in between is hardly likely to have buyers reaching for their chequebooks yet IMHO. Regards, Ian | jeffian
09/6/2008 10:36 | Mikey34 What did IC say? | grigor
09/6/2008 10:00 | Grigor, I would agree.FWIW it had a "buy" rec in the I.C. last week. | mikey34 |
