I'd give it a bit longer before selling.

On the back of the US army order, AVON should be able to obtain contracts from other armed forces, police forces, fire brigades, ambulance services etc.

It is supported by the dairy business - a cash cow! - and the business is now non-cyclical.

The company is also an easy takeover target with cheap equity and a leading position in a niche market.

What a time to sell, each to his own, though you may regret this later. It can be hard to believe in a company when you don't see the hype that some shares attract.

This I believe is one of the future stars of my portfolio. This buy and hold stance has worked well for two other shares that were bought recently BGT and Equator Exploration these are up 50 and 100%. Avon shares are undervalued and will only go higher from here all the bad news is out directors are buying and the dividend is 8%+

Results and a drop - should one be surprised ?
uncertain times ahead ! ?
prior to the US gas masks contract a dropping revenue - expected
resulting small loss - expected
Recent new contract should result in increased revenue - expected
future profitability should improve - expected
but how significant is this contract ?
very significant in opening a new line of business !
but not in annual revenue value at this stage - therein lies a problem !
where does the future significant revenue come from ?

The management should be answering these questions

I expected a lot of news flow on this story yesterday but I must of missed it or there was not much. This is the sort of share which seems to be outside of the radar at the moment and I would expect and hope for a steady rise and not the boom bust boom we normally see.

Altho the markets internationally are weaker today on adverse comments and righ downs in Asia it is encouraging to see Avon up in early trading. Expect this trend to continue un less there is a major market correction even so this will now be seen a defensive stock in the down turn and people will be buyers not sellers up to 150p

the contract is worth 100m usd = 50m gbp over a number or years, what does that add to t/o? £10-15m pa? not very exciting is it? With a mcap of £26m and nearly negative shareholder funds (exclude intangibles)a p/e of 10 (eps of 9p) would suggest impossibly high margins on the gas masks.......

Mike apparently the Titanic was also on course, for New York. A truly terrible movie but at leaste Kate got her baps out and saved the day. Expecting streakers in Melksham to have a positive effect on the share price

I agree ignore hvs at all times, but we cannot pretend that the appalling performance of these shares is not a cause for great concern. I am writing yet again to the company, and expect to be given the same tired line about AVON being "on course...." For what?

My holding is now worth only 35% of what I paid for it.

I thought these would be safe at 100p but the recent fall has made me reavaluate my position, but am still happy to hold.

This is now paying a 9% dividend its price is close to previous lows, restructuring in place deals in the pipe line. May be time to top up on some more.
