22/8/2022 13:13 | Good for you eurofox and I don't blame anyone who cashes some of their chips in at any point in time 👍🏻 I personally will hold my current winners but am thinking of taking profit in BP. Didn't last time and watched it fall back so maybe will today. | tuftymatt
22/8/2022 13:09 | I have to own up to exercising some fairly aggressive risk reduction first thing this AM - sold 50% of each of my holdings in AV. LGEN, MNG and PHNX. Even reduced some of the commodities, all at surprisingly good prices. The future is beginning to look quite dire - if interest rate keep rising then LIBOR+ (or it's replacement SONIA) charges on margined products could lead to a domino collapse of margined positions affecting all of us who put real cash in to the market. I am now over 70% cash, and interest rates of 5%+ could generate a good income stream from fixed income products. | eurofox
22/8/2022 08:10 | I just took a few more and will add if the dip continues. | tuftymatt
22/8/2022 08:03 | Closed the shortsBuys at 420 and 410. On holiday and not watching | marksp2011
21/8/2022 11:03 | Admiral quoted to renew £478. Axa £239. Via a comparison site. Half the price. Admiral can't be reached by phone to cancel renewal sent email to which they replied they will requote. I thought days of us running around trying to find a deal were over | whatsup32
21/8/2022 10:18 | Re car insurance got quoted £762 with Aviva settled for £346 with Axa. | oldfellowme2
20/8/2022 22:03 | I sold prior to ex-dividend myself and given where the share price is now I just hope I can get back in at a price that makes this approach worthwhile,. | tried and tested
20/8/2022 12:50 | Scobak. Sorry should have made clear . Article stated L&G cheaper and a BUY Petrol now 167.9p locally down from peak of £2 . Should be good news all round for inflation. Admiral car reinsurance quote up 20% from last year despite no claims . I suspect other insurers quoting 20% higher too. That's good news for Aviva | whatsup32
20/8/2022 11:50 | If it gets below the capital return price (424p?) I'd add some more. I never reinvested that money so it's sat idle. I wonder what September holds for the broader market though, it's often a crossroads for events, some reality after the silly season. | cassini
20/8/2022 10:04 | The link, if you're interested :- | skinny
20/8/2022 09:49 | Scobak, L&G | beermat1
20/8/2022 07:48 | Whatsup. Entry 14418. Can you clarify please. What is cheaper than Aviva? | scobak
19/8/2022 16:05 | next top-up point 420p | eurofox
19/8/2022 09:05 | Picked up a few more this morning and have an order in at 432. | tuftymatt
19/8/2022 09:00 | The Times article today "Insurer on target in capital shootout" Div yield 8.5% Cash generating £1B BUY rating Page 44 quarter page article . Worth reading Ps. Article states it's cheaper than Aviva | whatsup32
19/8/2022 07:39 | marksp. I can answer that for you as I do it myself. It is reinvestment of the dividend when it is paid that pushes the price up. I generally reinvest before I get the divi so I don't have to buy higher when others get theirs | prokartace
18/8/2022 14:38 | @prokartace yep. that's what I play. Direction of travel from AV and LGEN is both North but they get run ups before XD. PSN is another. i guess you usually get 2x dividend as a capital gain as the price is soft for the month of the XD....for reasons unknown it usually picks up when the divi is actually paid. I have no idea why. | marksp2011
18/8/2022 11:34 | Back in at 438.75 for the same modest amount of AV I sold prior to ex-div. Like getting two dividends as prokartace said. However, the macro market outlook is a worry for me and I'm not going to load up to my previous levels of ownership just yet in case we get a new leg down in the world markets. | cassini
18/8/2022 11:06 | marksp, this seems particularly the case with high yield shares where they get overbought for the dividend, then, when they go ex, all interest disappears for the next couple of months lowering the price back to normality | prokartace
18/8/2022 10:48 | Did the same myself but sold some earlier than you netting an even bigger difference ditto LGEN and MNG | eurofox
18/8/2022 10:45 | I have never seen the sense of "sitting back and letting the divi roll in" The falls post XD always seem to exceed the divi value and, unwrappered give a tax liability anyway So I sold LGEN and MNG yesterday and will buy back in as it seems appropriate. | marksp2011
18/8/2022 10:33 | I love the liquidity that you guys bring to the table | eurofox
18/8/2022 10:06 | Bought back 50% of my sales at 461-465 Closed short from 460 ish still running from 470 | marksp2011
18/8/2022 08:16 | Yeah excluding the divi drop today I am currently 3p off what I got back in at so do think the fall is a little too much. Cautious though so will wait and see if we close at some point in the 430's. | tuftymatt |
