16/1/2024 10:04 | My renewal in December for car insurance went up from a few pennies under £200 2o just under £240 , best alternative quote from com, parison site was £250 excluding a couple of optionaal extras included as standard with my current policy. The headline average figures on their own are not actually very useful. Some of that increase will be down to the huge costs of insuring large EVs and some other cars in cities, I suspect some is due to the increasing number of older driverswho have reached the stage of increasing premiums due to age and possibly an increasec in new drivers as the effects of covid receed. The insurers claim that they have been losing on car insurance over the last year or so due to increased number and cost of claims - Not sure I believe them but possible given the number of stories I have come across of people stuck with courtesy cars for months awaiting repairs due to lack of parts and the cost of repairing EVs appears highly inflated. | ldavis

16/1/2024 09:15 | Headline average car insurance £1k . Up 58% on year . I thought with insurers not allowed to treat new customers with huge discounts prices would go down. Who's brilliant idea was that Is there lack of competition or are insurers in cahoots similar to airlines across the pond where tickets cost near same regardless of airline | whatsup32

12/1/2024 09:55 | mountpleasant10 Jan '24 - 18:29 - 18478 of 18484 0 1 0 Hang on... theres people who need financing plans to pay an insurance premium? It sounds like Provident Finance customers. If your car premium is £4k then probably yes. Some are quite sneaky in disclosing this cost - I have also noticed that SOME want you to declare whether you will pay upfront or on credit before providing a quote - I can see that being stopped. I can also see the idea that they aren't involved in the credit when the credit company is another part of the same group is disingenuous the rates charged are also higher than barclaycard and, they are levied on the whole sum on day 1 making them about 8x as expensive as paying by CC and then doing a balance transfer My house insurance was 34% higher if I chose to pay monthly :) | marksp2011

11/1/2024 08:35 | Insurance Premium Funding, based on my limited research, applies to high net worth one off endowment products and allows leverage to the buyer of the product who mortgages the policy to the lender. Here`s a link: hxxps://www.ia.org.h | tourist2020
10/1/2024 18:57 | When interest rates were very low, it did not cost the insurer much to allow payment in instalments for little difference in total price…..presum TBH I have always thought anyone offering 0% interest should be offering a discount on the pay in full price. | 1jat
