10/8/2006 13:52 | Back for more - jez, hope I'm not knifing again! | johnrxx99
10/8/2006 13:04 | Well I'm with you. Buying back the stuff I sold at 1120p. I'm happy for it to keep dropping in the short-term :-) | wjccghcc
10/8/2006 12:36 | Topped up today before the drop! Getting a bit tedious and can't really understand why other than the market really does think we are headed for a big down. | johnrxx99
01/8/2006 12:25 | At this rate I'll have to find some funds to top up. Difficult call with so many playing catch up. | johnrxx99
25/7/2006 09:09 | Sounds like agood move to get the students hooked:- No reply from advfn yet. | johnrxx99
21/7/2006 12:54 | spongman- As I understand it (having attended a co presentation) the VNET solution is not really a proprietary technology. Indeed, I believe other heavyweight software co's have tried to launch similar solurtions (IBM?) in the past. The key thing with AVV's solution is the reputation that they have built up in the industry, which is a critical point because the industry tends to be very conservative. Furthermore, since the cost savings are substantial, the clients tend to favour working with established players. Having said that, are their any competitors trying to launch rival solutions to VNET? And in particular are Intergraph looking/launching this kind of solution? | shuisky
20/7/2006 15:08 | Can't get the charts to re-base at the moment but have asked advfn to help. | johnrxx99
20/7/2006 13:40 | This the new thread:- Cant get the charts re-scaled at present but have asked advfn to assist. | johnrxx99
20/7/2006 13:27 | S The share split is a good occasion to start a new thread imo. This company is one of only two UK businesses that are included in the world's top 100 high tech company's. It is highly regarded in the US and Far East and has a growth as solid as could be wished for. It is no boom and bust techy so you won't get 100% and lose it overnight but imo will get a steady 30%+ pa which is a bit better than my building society. As ever dyor and please contribute - I shall be happy to update the thread as we go along. 4 April 08 - The following web links have been added by request | johnrxx99
20/7/2006 13:13 | I've started a new thread to get the chart sorted and a section for releases. Will provide a link shortly. Good to see the big sale placed and should see some movement now. | johnrxx99
17/7/2006 19:53 | ... I would have thought take-over by someone like Autodesk more likely. | spongman
17/7/2006 15:01 | spongman - one day they will shine. I used to work for DTZ and when we floated in '87 we languished at 30p for ages. Years were spent building the network of offices and recently they have taken off. AVV is solid enough to be a little more aggressive and grow the business as the alternative is to be bought out at some stage. A nice merger - is there anyone out there who would make a good fit? I've often thought VEG, different area but similar style of management. | johnrxx99
17/7/2006 14:46 | Johnrxx99, As I say i have worked for them in their cambridge office and have generaly made my living out of their flagship product 'Vantage PDMS'. I was invested as far back as the 'CADCENTRE' days and have been in and out a couple of times. I still know a lot of names in the company and talk to quite a few on a regular basis. I'm currently a little out of touch with the 'business' side but still very hot on the technical side, if i think i can add anything then I certainly will; I pass through here now and again just to see if the world has caught up yet with this excellent long term investment. They do seem to be overlooked by the press since the days when Mr Kavanagh used to talk about them in the Sunday Times. I would say that yes; their product is unique but there are some big players in the game who would like to have similar offerings and keep having a 'dig'. Fortunately Aveva continue to respond by targeting particular areas of the industry and expanding the appeal of their software into these niches. (note Tribon recently for example.) This looks better than the 'one size fits all' approach of some of the heavyweights. And, of course, one day they must start looking like a bid target. What do you think? | spongman
17/7/2006 13:55 | spongman - only what I've read, no personal usage. I like companies that have a unique product and AVV appears to have one, along as being one of the most respected software developers in the world. If you have personal knowledge if wouldn't harm if you posted your views | johnrxx99
17/7/2006 13:42 | Johnrxx99, You seem to hang around here quite a lot. Other than being an investor do you have knowledge of the companies product range or have any other connections to the company? -- btw, not prying, I for example am quite familiar with the company and their product range. I have worked for them prviously and have previously invested. I don't currently hold. | spongman
17/7/2006 12:17 | Sets isn't for PI's! | johnrxx99
17/7/2006 12:13 | Good point. In the good old days before SETSmm the standard spread on AVV was 15p which you would expect to be 5 post-split. At close on Friday it was 29 - say 10 post split. What do we get? As I write the quote is 335-363. Humph. | sharw
17/7/2006 08:57 | Ok MMs, now we've had the share split you can narrow the spread! | wjccghcc
17/7/2006 08:07 | Just had a siezure! | johnrxx99
14/7/2006 12:10 | A good AGM statment and 1 to 3 share split. Shame the share price doesn't want to react. Hope I don't have siezure on the 17th when the share prices falls by 66.67%!! | johnrxx99
21/6/2006 15:10 | Fidelity have bought a few more and now hold 4.98%. In good company. | johnrxx99
15/6/2006 10:16 | A rally - I can breath again and be big headed that I topped up yesterday! | johnrxx99
31/5/2006 07:54 | You're joking right? The previous split didn't take them below 300p either as I recall and look what's happened since. | wjccghcc
30/5/2006 21:33 | The Annual General Meeting on 14th July 2006 will consider a proposal to perform a 3 for 1 Capitalisation issue on the stock: obviously the board is not anticipating stratospheric growth in the future otherwise they would have gone for more like a 10 for 1 split. | forthurst |
