11/11/2005 12:41 | Many thanks sharw and WJ. I was slightly shocked by the sale but so far doesn't seem to have had a negative effect - as you say 950p is a good price. | johnrxx99
11/11/2005 12:05 | CEO sells a third of his stake. Did the same after the finals. Good for him I say - management have had the foresight to make this company flourish and should be rewarded. Plus he has more than that in options outstanding. MMs/institutions must really want his stock to take it off him at 950p. | wjccghcc
11/11/2005 10:05 | Their main competitor is Intergraph. $1.4 billion mkt cap and trades on a PE of 41 dropping to 32 next year. AVV has been taking significant mkt share off them in the last 3 years as they've listened much better to what engineers want and made everything very open regarding their products working with other industry standards. I doubt AVV management would sell except for a very good price but Intergraph will need to buy them to stop the rot. With VNET kicking in, I reckon they'll earn 50p+ EPS for the coming year. Means Intergraph could pay 15 quid for them and still have an earnings enhancing acquistion. | wjccghcc
11/11/2005 09:45 | A buy tip in todays Telegraph apparently. Anyone got it? | johnrxx99
10/11/2005 11:30 | I doubt you could sell but I doubt they'd let you buy at that price - that's why it goes indicative - prices not binding on MMs. | wjccghcc
10/11/2005 11:13 | Many thanks, of course, it happens at the end of day but always thought that when it happened during the day it was a streaming glitch. So for a short while you could sell at over the buy price, hard to get ones head around the fact that systems don't prevent it. Cheers WJ | johnrxx99
10/11/2005 11:07 | Backwardation is when the bid price exceeds the offer price. Only a very temporary effect - happens when MM's desperately need stock and don't have time to adjust the offer price. Happened yesterday pm for a few minutes when prices went indicative. Although AVV's mkt cap is 200mm now, almost all the shares are held in large institutional stakes. There's not alot of free float around. In fact, the only one who's been selling over the last six months is Standard Life - may have something to do with their equity/bond allocation as they approach floatation. | wjccghcc
10/11/2005 10:37 | I think I should be excited but what exactly is backwardation WJ? I've heard of it before but can't remember. | johnrxx99
09/11/2005 15:55 | I think we just hit backwardation. Haven't seen that with this and I've been holding them for 4 years :-) | wjccghcc
09/11/2005 13:39 | Good read, thanks WJ | johnrxx99
09/11/2005 13:21 | Very complementary article here on citywire. | wjccghcc
09/11/2005 09:29 | This is an interesting thread I've just been made aware of through Google Alerts:- One of only 2 UK small cap tech firms in the world. Can't be bad. DCA worth a look as well(the orther one). | johnrxx99
09/11/2005 09:17 | As they always say, wish I'd got more when I got back in last month. Excellent results and should have a good effct on VEG as well. | johnrxx99
09/11/2005 08:40 | Onwards and upwards. | tday
28/10/2005 21:34 | In the recent trading update, strong momentum across the business was mentioned. I doubt things have deteriorated since then. | tday
28/10/2005 21:31 | Is it really such a big drop? | tday
28/10/2005 16:41 | Oh no!One of my few steady shares nosedives with the rest. Does anyone know if it's company specific or is it just succumbing to market malaise. | hitchinhoncho
18/10/2005 10:15 | Not really. Looks more like the wonderful new SETS system which seems to widen the spread to 30p, then shrink it to 5p about 10 times a day. | wjccghcc
18/10/2005 09:59 | Looking like some volatility at the end of the trend | carl jung |
