25/3/2014 07:14 | New posting on Avanti website: Profen announces major Turkish infrastructure partnership with Avanti Communications 25 March, 2014 New 'Gateway Earth Station' in Turkey to manage Turkish internet traffic for HYLAS 2 satellite Leading global telecoms operator, Profen, has announced the establishment of a Turkish Gateway Earth Station (GES) to manage internet traffic in Turkey. The GES - locally referred to as a 'Teleport' - will manage traffic for Avanti Communications' HYLAS 2 satellite, which provides 100% coverage over Turkey. Avanti Communications is the only international Ka-band satellite operator to secure a GES inside Turkey. The major infrastructure partnership guarantees data security within Turkey, providing secure, high-quality data connectivity for a captive government, enterprise and retail customer base. The GES will be owned and operated by Profen, in addition to retaining part ownership and operation of HYLAS 2 capacity and services in Turkey. Services will also be available to Avanti Communications' Turkish customers. Commenting, Onder Havuzlu, Chief Executive at Profen said: "We are pleased to be taking a significant lead in the telecommunications market with this move. Ka-band services have enormous potential in Turkey. Our operation of the GES will ensure provision of highly secure, quality data connectivity to government, enterprise and retail customers in Turkey." Matthew O'Connor, Chief Operating Officer at Avanti Communications, said: "Avanti is proud to become the sole international Ka-band satellite operator to secure a GES inside of Turkey. This is a pioneering investment from Profen, which will benefit a number of applications. Avanti's product offering is anchored in quality and flexibility, and this partnership draws a big point of difference with international competitors." | chriscallen

11/3/2014 09:25 | From the results .... despite the turnover increase ..... new bond will add to interest expenses ''The gross loss increased to $12.6 million (2012: $10.1 million) primarily as a result of a full period depreciation charge of $22.5 million (2012: $15.4 million) following the launch of HYLAS 2. In addition in the period there were some additional one off ground station expenditures to support the MNO backhaul projects. Overheads in the period were $16.6 million (2012: $14.3 million) which is slightly higher in dollar terms compared to the 6 months to June 2013 of $14.2 million. However, currently the majority of overheads are sterling denominated, primarily staff costs, and are as such, subject to variances in dollar/sterling exchange rates. Interest expenses increased in line with the new bond financing which was completed in October 2013 and attracts a coupon of 10% payable semi-annually in April and October each year. The finance charges also include costs of repaying the previous facility early together with the costs of raising the bond which are charged to the income statement over the 6 year life of the bond. 10/3/2014 14:13 | Is it my imagination - when the price rises, I cannot see much buying appearing on level 2 which either means that the mms are just walking the price higher for some reason, or more likely there is a big buyer in the background mopping up the sales. Let's see if we can close above £3 | buffaloman
