Gentleman

One person round here doesn't realise this company is government backed.......not necessarily UK government backed either.

Watch and learn.

There are currently 949 companies listed on the main market. Self-evidently, the majority of them cannot be included in the FTSE Indices and that clearly is not the main point of a full listing. I only took issue with your comments because you suggested that the board of AVN were being disingenuous in some way, whereas they have simply stated that they intend to move from AIM to the main market.

I must say I laughed at their 'explanation' about the 'prudent reporting' to be taken seriously by the main market. Had they been on the main market and produced results so far off previous IMS guidance, I imagine they'd have got even more of a roasting than they actually did.

JeffianThe board may well just want to be listed on the "main market" but to have a decent amount of exposure for Hedge Funds to be involved you'd have to be listed on the FTSE index as detailed in the link provided. All this listing on the Main Index is just a side show for now, AVN as far bigger problems on it's hands. Part of the reason for the partly downbeat nature of the last RNS is to bring in line a more prudent way of reporting to be completely transparent in it's reporting so as to be taken seriously by the Main Market and it's stipulations. You said "no matter what the board of AVN say about their intention (& that's all it is) about a FTSE index inclusion."

The board of AVN have never mentioned "FTSE index inclusion" (although I think one or two posters here raised it); they've simply said that they intend to list on the main market.

This what I use to define what companies would need to fulfil to reach a certain Index Qualification Criteria which is where the "boost" that everyone is looking for will come from regarding the share price.

No, any company can apply for a listing as long as it meets the criteria -

nothing to do with market cap

This full listing will be considered under the FTSE umbrella which has stipulations on market cap/accounting standards over a sustained period. Whether or not AVN will meet this remains to be seen but market cap depends entirely on the market, not AVN.

Indeed, Geheimnis, I was about to make the same point.

the Board are talking about a Main Market listing - not a FTSE index inclusion

this is entirely under their own control

W1Why do u want the shorter's to buy back what they've sold? Surely you would want the share price to drop as much as possible to buy more and load up for the impending FTSE inclusion? If I was a staunch AVN man I'd want the share price to drop as much as possible, if it was value at 400 value at 300 then it must be greater value at 200 and frankly giving them away at 150! Drop the price I'd say, damn those pesky shorter's ;)

All this talk of FTSE inclusion, many an AIM company says the same thing year in/out and frankly it's not the company that decides. To set out such an ambition is great, it's non-committal and gets BBs talking of hedge funds and the like having to buy in. The market dictates what market cap AVN will be, at the moment the market cap looks set to decline further. If the market decides the market cap will be sufficient be clear in your thinking that the first indicator of this will be price which speaks volumes to a non-inclusion for the coming few years. Maybe in a few years when the full revenues and profits are flowing nicely from H1, H2 & H3 and the business model is proven you'll see an inclusion. You might have noticed I mention the word "Market" a lot, that is the King no matter what the board of AVN say about their intention (& that's all it is) about a FTSE index inclusion.

The main market listing will at least differentiate AVN from AIM. The FTSE250 inclusion will happen at some stage in the future.

i think we need a market cap of 437 million or a share price 3.90ish and that would give us automatic entry into ftse 250, so shorters buy your holdings back whilst you have a profit the greedy ones always get caught.

"I'd suggest the first time posters selling are actually shorters. I also notice they all have a very similar writing style!"Heaven forbid CC anyone say anything disparaging against AVN hey? Shall we call it the ramper's only thread? Shorter's come in when they see an opportunity just like they see here. Some go long, some go short, it's a market and all about making money not about an emotional attachment. As for the writing style, I think ur reading far more into it as opposed to looking at AVNs share price, a scant distraction I suppose ;)

Jonnib - I'd suggest the first time posters selling are actually shorters. I also notice they all have a very similar writing style! The board has been hijacked by shorters trying to depress us into selling IMO. I'm holding as the company continue to report sales are on target (with some caveats) and a move to the main market will be a bonus.

I don't know if anyone else has commented on it, but I'm irritated to see the AGM starts at 9:00 in London. I fear they don't want shareholders there asking irritating questions. Still, not as bad as one company I held: when things got really sticky they held their AGM in the North of Scotland on 28 December.

prob just got out of the wrong side of the bed this morning. best of luck to those still holding this one. As I said, it's prob a stock I will get into again, but not in the short term. I just can't see anything that is going to drive this on in the next 12 months.

Fair dues to those with the guts to hold on. For your sake, I hope I am wrong on this one ;-) I def see this share at close to £10 some day, but just not in the immediate future.

Must be near the bottom, yesterday I thought about selling and I've owned these shares since late 2006.

I ALWAYS buy a share near the top and ALWAYS sell near the bottom, so shorters be warned!! I'm NEVER right...if that makes sense.

Good luck to those who continue to hold btw, I don't mean to talk this down, this is just my personal perspective...

Horses for courses I guess. I topped up (to average down) yesterday having topsliced my main oily for safety.

I don't know where this price should be but I hope £2.60 is too low - so I won't lose much more but could gain a lot (one day).

I tried to read the annual report but it is hard work. They seem to make up for little news by writing a lot! No chance of finding the good news. I expected a list of operational partners on #1, and just maybe #2, and a list of contracts on the books and when they hope to be operational. It may have been hidden in the haystack but could not find it with all the scrolling needed on my notebook.

Too early to write these off methinks - I would not dump Cheryl Cole if she told me she was ugly :O)
