11/10/2012 22:13 | Malcolmmm. You are making the mistake of thinking that tipsters are providing tips for your benefit....they aren't. They are tipping to an agenda. They want to persuade you to buy for their own benefit or the benefit of someone who pays them. It may be that they are tipping a company because they have column inches to fill. In that case what you normally get is a regurgitated press release. Newspaper tips are worth what you pay for them...not much. Brokers tips, you need to see if they are house broker...biased, or they have a line of stock to shift or they hope to get commercial business from the company. There's always a reason. I'm a cynic. | ![]() sg31
11/10/2012 21:30 | superg1, I have no issue with opposing views. SC may have called the share price action correctly but it was not for the reasons he was suggesting at the time .... He pitches up again on the back of disappointing results and those shorters of lesser stature seem only too keen to acknowledge his prescience...and do his job for him. Interesting you say it's..'Nice to see a balance of views either way'... yet I have noted the negative tone of your posts over the last few years and I have to wonder why you post here...perhaps to warn other investors to avoid wasting thier money - a very noble sentiment indeed. I can only pray that I shall be spared the verbiage of those who would seemingly offer to save me from myself. | dunluce
11/10/2012 21:00 | my worry is that with technology and the world rapidly changing ,predictions of growth for this company may change in the coming years . Tipsters analyses, from my point of view doesn't take this into account, look at Ascot Mining tipped time after time on overestimating future growth and underestimating difficulties of these start up and very risky companies. I think tipsters should give a risk rating to the companies they so enthusiastically keep tipping right up to and beyond huge drops in the share price Investors in AVN are kept onboard by predictions of a share price of £22 in 2 years time but now 5 years after the results or sometime never if all doesn't go to plan. There are a few good tip sheets who's tips's on the whole grow year in year out by picking less risky good growth companies like Telecom plus etc which incidentally one tipster recommended subscribers to sell some time ago, they have risen ever since to new highs and will do for many years to come imo | ![]() malcolmmm
11/10/2012 19:31 | Yup - RHPS have tonight reduced AVN to HOLD, at least until he talks to DW. | ![]() someuwin
11/10/2012 19:26 | Nice to see a balnace of views either way. When it was 700 plus and Hylas 1 up the whole thread was shouting £10 plus, and trying to annihilate anyone that had a different view. Some no doubt are here with Buys over the £7 mark. I recall the immense effort buy RHPS to ramp it post Hylas 1 launch, all those OTT constant coments on AVN. SC got it right, and now there seems to be a 50/50 split re the future, with evidence of things not quite going to plan, yet many go on about SC being wrong again. There is a long way to go yet before this company proves itself imo. | ![]() superg1
11/10/2012 18:41 | Have ignored SC on this one for too long. Started listening yesterday and sold all 30k equivalent on IG Index. Then took out a 10k short. Not sure why my short isn't bigger. I've lost quite a bit on this over the last 2 years. When T1PS, the arch-bulls, can only recommend a Hold it tells you something. | shanksaj

11/10/2012 13:10 | i think this will settle in the 300p-350p trading range until the next big news could be military related - or listing announcement | ![]() geheimnis2
11/10/2012 13:07 | the fact that Paul Walsh (NED of AVN and Diageo chief exec) has splashed out £60k over the last 2 days is a very good sign | ![]() geheimnis2
11/10/2012 12:57 | Is SC really that interested? On his twitter feed he omitted them and there were 19 tweets yesterday. He looks to have so many pies to finger than he probably concentrates on the big winners and forgets the others? Absolutely no research into that - I had never heard of him yesterday - but is he invested in Mrs Kipling? | nugacity
11/10/2012 12:44 | Well the "issues will linger" until AVN show that they're raking in the money in line with forecasts and market expectations. | ![]() jeffian
11/10/2012 12:14 | SP been creeping back since 9am today. MY b/e is now in the low £3's after a few purchases that made me go in a little deep for my own liking, but I think the main thing is that the issues pointed out from the RNS do not seem like issues that will linger and cause doubt for long (I hope). So I expect to see some recovery. | ![]() disc0dave
11/10/2012 11:43 | gnnmartin, I agree with you. All this "Backlog" jargon is fine whilst they are making forward projections, but now the satellites are up there and earning, all we are really interested in is actual revenues year-on-year. All they need to do is give the market their earnings predictions, never mind pie-in-the-sky orders that may, or may not, turn into revenues in the future. Mind you, if they're going to make any forecasts, they've got to stick to them. After yesterday's debacle, the market won't take much notice until they see the money in the bank. | ![]() jeffian

11/10/2012 11:15 | Todays RNS: Avanti Communications Group plc (AIM: AVN), the satellite operator, was informed today by Matthew O'Connor, Director, that on 11 October 2012 he bought 3,300 shares at 299.5 pence per ordinary share. -------------------- How does this work when the days high is 293? | johncsimpson
11/10/2012 10:43 | FT says today that valuation is guesswork, but "yesterday's revenue shock should come as a warning to potential investors, who would be wise to steer clear of the stock." That's pretty much my feeling. I'm holding on to my shares, but I have little confidence that I know what the prospects are. Nigel Martin | ![]() gnnmartin

11/10/2012 10:08 | gentlemen, does anyone have any timings when the short squeeze is due to start, or will they let another few days go by, before the followers are squeezed out of 20pc of their worth. Lets see lol. | ![]() volvo
11/10/2012 10:05 | It isn't rocket science, Nugacity. They just need to follow a simple rule - Don't say one thing and immediately do another! As I said before, I actually doubled my holding yesterday but if they are in any doubt about the importance of guiding the market properly, a glimpse at the graph for the past couple of days should tell them all they need to know. | ![]() jeffian |
