18 April 2011 RNS:-

Hylas 1 backlog - £139.0m
Hylas 2 backlog - £28.4m. "Avanti also notes a £113.4m option for HYLAS 2 capacity which is subject to a significant option fee."
Pipeline for Hylas 1 plus Hylas 2 - £427.2m

Today:-

Hylas 1 backlog - £141.0m
Hylas 2 backlog - £30m. "In addition the options over capacity (for military use) increased to £170m."
Hylas 3 - conditionally contracted pre-sales of $120m.
Pipeline for Hylas 1 plus Hylas 2 - £473m

Imo the rapidly growing geographies served by Hylas 2 and the military customers for it are critical, and ripe, to increasing orders very significantly. Well done to the BOD for focussing on these territories/customers.

From our Chairmans statement:

"Avanti's senior management team has faced a difficult period, as some short term speculators attacked the share price. I am concerned that loyal, long term shareholders, especially private investors who are not allowed by law to receive the detailed reports produced by investment banks, have experienced temporarily diminished value, perhaps without a clear understanding of how this has come about. But it has not changed our approach to our business model at all. We have set out a five year business plan to fill our satellites. Our products and geographies are exhibiting very strong demand and I am satisfied that in the first commercial year of this plan we are achieving our objectives"

I'm not so sure, I reckon directors put out all share price sensitive news at the same time so they came out of a closed period. I think they will be buying heavily down here. Let's hope it has the opposite effect to the most recent director dealings : )

Cash plus the insurance value for Hylas-2 underpins the whole market cap at this current share price : )

Who are they trying to kid, anyone up for 300p+ this afternoon?

On Friday Daniel Stewart was predicting a loss of 5.4m.

The money from Kent Council would be used to subsidise dish installs. I assume there is no financial benefit to Avanti for the cost of each install, (they try to keep these costs as low as possible in order to be competitive) the benefit to them is the annual revenue. Historically schemes have subsidised the whole install cost.

Would it be possible for Avanti to be the sole satellite surplier recommended by BDUK, Hylas 1 was part funded by the BNSC, one could assume this connection to the goverment can only help? Speculation I know.

Even the Cenkos note everyone lapped up was debatable.
It Certainly would take some great news to break this trend and its showing no sign of recovery yet.

You may miss this because it is buried within an article about Inmarsat, tipped in ST's "Inside the City" column as a takeover target -

".....Avanti Communications has had an altogether quieter fall, with its shares down 60% this year. Annual results due tomorrow should give comfort that the company, whose Hylas 1 satellite blasted into space last November, is on track. Another fully-funded launch is due before June.

Analysts at Jefferies, who are forecasting turnover to come in at £5.4m, point out that Avanti trades below book value. But the company in the sector that has traders most exercised is Inmarsat....."

We can but hope, eh?

Sure, but it won't do you any good. It won't rise much avove £3.00 and if you average £4.5 you are in trouble. My advice is stay away from T1PS, they don't care about you, they make much more money from their clients.

Yes exactly it will be more to with information on the uptake H1, contracts won progress with H2 and H3 and the projection for next years revenues that will be the important information. Not long to wait now :-)

yeah - my average price is £4.50 so not too worried - think we will be well above that this time next year. would have preferred to have been in at these lower levels but i never thought the opportunity would come.

monday will be very interesting - not for the results but for the backlog and pipeline stats. update on hylas 3 funding also interesting

That must surely tell us something Geheimnis if you couldn't buy late on Friday. So hopefully we will be in for a decent rise on Monday, let's hope so but we have a long way to go to get back to where we were.

Geheimnis,

I have to be honest I hadn't thought to much about it until now but now I have I'm sure you are quite right there will be more in it for AVN. As you rightly say KCC is not going to be paying people's monthly fee. What I also think is worth bearing in mind this is one council and hopefully others will follow.

As I have said time and time again the technology does not have any competition other than other satellites for those remote areas

re: the kent CC - avanti wont just be paid by the council - presumably this is just an element of subsidy - they will still have end subscribers (the council will not be providing free BB to end users, i would assume) - hence is not the reality that AVN will be potentially earning more than £1.5m from this arrangement

any views? yorgi?

Someuwin - such sloppy research/misinterpretation on the part of Daniel Stewart, makes you wonder what else they have got wrong. Certainly makes me less inclined to take their analysis seriously,

Daniel Stewart...

"Avanti mostly recently (16th Sep) announced a £1.5m order from Kent County Council within its Rural Broadband framework."

As far as I can see Kent CC gets £1.5 of which AVN may get some - if they're lucky...

"Avanti Communications Group plc (AIM: AVN), the satellite operator, is pleased to announce that, following a competitive tender, it has been awarded a place on the Kent County Council Rural Broadband framework, which will access funds of at least GBP1.5m to set up pilot projects to address the rural not spots of Kent using a range of technologies, including satellite."
