It's been a testing ride for most investors lately and stockholders may have been panicked out but for those holding on or adding should be consoled by the qauntity of director buys over the past few weeks. As a former business owner I certainly knew at which points I would like to invest or advise others. Yes there can be a lot of surprises both positive and negative in store and even as an electrical engineer by training I have some difficulty totally understanding the metrics involved here but if things go pear shaped and I get my fingers burned then looking at the director level of investment they will suffer much more. Directors can make the wrong call occasionally but who would I back against. Those who have the detailed understanding of their business and are willing and have shown the willingness to back their own judgement by putting not insignificant sums of money on the table or outside assessors who probably are not aware of all facts but seem to argue that they know better.

A little bit of patience is required and lets hope this will be rewarded, maybe not as spectacularly as has been wildly anticipated but .......

Adding to what you were saying about directors buying Acefromspace it is clearly a no brainer with all the money they have put in recently. If AVN had got it wrong and was doomed to fail then the directors would be out of a job when the company folded. Would they also want to lose any money they had in the bank or invested elsewhere......I think not. They must be confident of their business plan or else they would be throwing money down the drain and nobody is going to convince me otherwise. They could have come out with a robust RNS some weeks ago saying that they knew of no reason for the fall but several of them have bought decent amounts over the last few weeks instead. Also Caledonia bought a substantial amount recently and they wouldn't have done so without knowing the how the business was going as one can be sure they will be in close communication with the board.

My money is staying put and I'm very happy to hold, but I admit wish I had sold the lot at the top and was putting all that cash back in now......but wouldn't we all wish that !

I agree Acefromspace :-) I'm very confident that in twelve months time we will be well above here and wishing we had bought more and those that haven't bought any kicking themselves !

Looks like a nice double bottom to me and now the bounce up... I'm with you Yorgi but I have been known to be wrong ;-)

In the past I have never seen directors of a company buy shares when they think the company cannot deliver... especially the amount they have all brought. Patience people... good things come to those that wait!

I'm going to stick my neck out and say the rise has now started......yes I could be wrong but I'm pretty confident that the low 400's are over. Just wish I had some funds available to add.

Topped up today - either the directors are throwing good money after bad or they are extremely confident re the future of AVN.

Colva, I've not sold any AVN, but have certainly been taking capital gains off the table over the last few days. With AIM listed stocks that aren't the most liquid out there, it must have an impact.

"Could the share price drop of the last few days be down to sellers wanting to book the loss to put against Capital Gains elsewhere?"

That was certainly my situation. Quite a lot had to go, and AVN was one of them.

I just have to hope it's still at what I consider an attractive price when the 30 days is up!

The directors and their brokers have been quite clear that all is well and if anything ahead of target but if there are those that don't want to listen what can one do ! Unless of course they think the directors are spinning a yarn ! I don't.

Just a reminder that the Directors said this in the interim report:

"The average prices per MHz per month are materially ahead of expectations."

Directors are suggesting that prices being achieved as actually exceeding those in the business plan. The shorter's case is that the prices Avanti expected to get in the business plan will not be achieved.

Pretty definitive statement from the Directors in my view.

Jeffian,

I see no point in phoning SC up, he would not listen to TW so he isn't going to listen to me I'm quite sure. In my opinion he is the sort of person that when he has made up his mind he is not going to listen to anyone else even if they could clearly show he was wrong. I may be wrong on that but somehow I don't think so. When things change and he is shown to be wrong you can bet your bottom dollar he will just keep quiet and move on. I never doubted it was him I know some on here questioned it but it was quite obvious it was him I couldn't understand why some doubted it.

Just spoken to SkyDSL in Germany. My German is a little rusty but amazed at how much I remembered.

They are expecting KA-SAT so go live on 01 July and have priced accordingly. For the service offering a package similar to Hetan:

4GB per 28 days fair usage policy, 5Mbs download speed E19,90 for the first 6 months followed by E39.90 per month thereafter. They add additional services to the package including a 1MB e-mail account, 100MB home page and 6 MP3 song downloads worth about E8. So it works out to be.....

Shock horror!!!!

The same

SC better get your informant to start phoning around because he knows sweet fa.

The basic rationale for SC's terribly well informed informant was that Eutelsat would wipe the floor with AVN in terms of pricing because of its unit cost.

Well Sat2way in France have just released their prices today and lo and behold SC's informant is

a)Not very well informed
b)Not all that smart.

Sat2Way are offering E27.90 for 4GB and 6Mbs.

Compared with Hetan (German AVN reseller)

E29.90 for 5GB and download 6Mbs.

Looks pretty equal to me.

They don't seem to be having much trouble selling on their capacity

Very interesting article,

viasat obviously see Ka Band as the future with the following statement

The in-flight Ka-band system being developed for JetBlue is also a key step in ViaSat's expansion of its successful Yonder® global mobile satellite network to Ka-band in key international markets. ViaSat is adding capacity from regional partners to the network, such as Eutelsat in Europe and Yahsat in the Middle East, which will be accessible to a rapidly growing base of aviation, maritime, and government subscribers now getting high-speed access from Ku-band satellites.
