26/11/2010 00:18 | ISAT launch as far as i remember was quite crucial in that it was the first one since their listing a fairly new tech satellite which would allow data/broadband etc so certainly cutting edge and adding to capacity etc at the time It was expected that launches were 99% successful and thus priced in | bonosr7
26/11/2010 00:12 | That launch was Inmarsat-4 and they were already making $500m per year and paying dividends before then. No comparison with AVN in terms of significance of launch and effect on share price I expect lots of fireworks on monday 29th! | someuwin
26/11/2010 00:03 | i fail to see how you can compare us directly to isat, they have multiple satellites in orbit, we have none and we are using a new technology, this launch not only derisks the business but proves the technology on hand. isats launch did neither of those things. | sco77harris
25/11/2010 23:52 | bonosr, The graph of the ISAT price is interesting. But was this the only satellite for the company, or did they already have existing satellites successfully in orbit? | bonnard
25/11/2010 23:46 | This is how ISAT traded over the period of it's satellite launch in November 2005 No fireworks, pretty much a damp squid[sic] | bonosr7
25/11/2010 23:36 | Broadwood - no...WTFDIK S | smarm
25/11/2010 23:06 | I have added your link to the header Alex save any interested in googling around | yorgi
25/11/2010 22:54 | HB, I have emailed the company with the question tonight. I'll post any response on here and your thread. | brancho
25/11/2010 22:51 | We do Someuwin :-) It could rocket tomorrow :-)) | yorgi
25/11/2010 22:50 | horneblower .... when Inmarsat PLC (ISAT) launched a satellite on 8th November 2005 it took them until 18 November 2005 to confirm all systems where go ... so possibly that is a reasonable guide, as I don't think Avanti have given a date | marksnsparkle
25/11/2010 22:30 | I still don't have an answer. When will we know the if whole thing has been a success? No answer because nobody on the thread knows. Too bad. | horneblower
25/11/2010 22:29 | ...Still a whole trading day to go yet! | someuwin
25/11/2010 22:24 | One thing for sure we will know soon. I thought we would have been higher than this before launch and I have been wrong ! I expect the launch and deployment to go to plan and we will have an operational satellite next week and I hope and expect a higher share price but will have to wait for next week. I guess Wendsworth will appear again to remind me I was wrong as for reasons one must make ones own mind up he seems to get great pleasure in seeing a falling share price and reminding me I was wrong. Well if it makes you happy Wendsworth then have your pleasure while you can :-) | yorgi
25/11/2010 21:18 | mm's can manipulate a price to their own ends. Don't worry about that. I hold an excellent share which recently fell 15% in the middle of a day, to general wide-eyed astonishment. A huge buy order was then filled and the share ended up on the day. Crooks, thieves and vagabonds abound. | buck581
25/11/2010 20:49 | The risk would appear to be in the deployment of the satellite after the launch, rather than the launch itself ... Ariane Space have an excellent launch record, however not all the satellites that they launch successfully deploy ... for example Ariane Flight 197 is recorded as a successful launch, but as we know the W3B satellite did not deploy successfully My prediction is a break of £7 following a successful launch and deployment, with further prices rises as new contract wins are announced .... and if it all goes belly up we will probably bounce off £3 | marksnsparkle
25/11/2010 20:36 | Satellite operator Avanti Communications first satellite HYLAS 1 is due to be launched tomorrow. The launch is due to happen between 18.39 and 21.54 GMT and can be watched on www.arianespace.com. HYLAS 2 has passed the key milestones of its critical design review and will have three times the capacity of HYLAS 1. HYLAS 2 is expected to be launched next spring. Both satellites will offer broadband services | broadwood
25/11/2010 20:25 | Guys, If a successful launch is already in the price, how come the share price has drifted down more than 10% since the recent highs? There are a lot of people who wouldn't hold onto a share even before the announcement of half year results, let alone before an event which they percieve as "make or break" for the company. But if you ask me, I would repeat what I said a month ago. If Iran can send the "Omeed" satellite successfully to the orbit, this one should not make me lose any sleep. PS. I have added another 2000 shares today, taking my holdings to 6000. The only explosion we will witness soon is going to be in the chart. I for one won't be selling any of my shares below £7.50. The last bacth will go when we get to £10+. PS.PS: My prediction for the closing price tomorrow: 3 to 5 % advance. | rafieh
25/11/2010 20:19 | Its 'C' isn't it? And actually,I have - which is why I hold them. | broadwood
25/11/2010 20:16 | broadwood - you are neither doomster or nor realist, you are just someone who has failed to do enough homework to work out what AVN could be worth if the Hylas 1, 2 and 3 all deploy. But WTFDIK.... S | smarm
25/11/2010 20:04 | Post from my Lloyds thread: I'm not a doomster just a realist. I hold the shares - and like the story. 'wend - re AVN,I do think they'll rise modestly on a successful launch but then we need to see the new contracts coming in - which I'm confident they will. As for them going up to £8 etc right after the launch,I would be very surprised if that happened. It just seems to me that such missions are now almost every day events which is why I posted the comment. Must admit though, the price action today was another reason - it puzzled me'. | broadwood
25/11/2010 18:43 | Such as ??? A lot of doomsters have appeared from nowhere recently hmmmm. | dil
25/11/2010 18:18 | b.w : I agree with you. There's more to this than the successful launch. | wendsworth |
