18/9/2013 16:15 | Remember they are only cash positive at the operational level. They have an awful lot of debt to service - so the question is - are they actually generating enough to service it. Can't remember the schedule but i do have some concerns on this for now. Wont actually be profitable this year either according to brokers so you do need some caution here. | willessa
18/9/2013 15:49 | The key thing for Avanti is cash. You can't argue with that. As long as the cash flows in, the shorters will fail. | jeffian
18/9/2013 15:43 | Thanks for that Peter.....he isn't going to let it go, almost personal. | yorgi
18/9/2013 15:42 | Cawkwell spouting off on T1ps again, raising doubts on orders and on debt financing. He hasn't shorted though and I wonder if he's hurting over price rise recently. Sounds like sour grapes to me. | peterwaller395
18/9/2013 14:54 | Everybody sold up? | philo124
17/9/2013 17:48 | Certainly seems to be slowly heading there. | ttny2004

14/9/2013 11:48 | Avanti is covered on Investors Champion today - free to register at Avanti is covered in the AimZine article "Recovering former glories". | mjcrockett
13/9/2013 10:40 | this would make a nice add on for vodafone at this price with all that money they got just a thought,,, | wilksey1
12/9/2013 17:28 | Not commented for a while - I think we at about the right price now - which is to say NAV. By this I mean it is a reasonable expectation that the company can pay its debts and return 220p to the shareholders. I thought this is where the floor would be, but got that wrong. To do that the company just has to break even as the depreciation is straight line to the end of the satellite life. What we need to see is the company break 60M in revenue and then we start making money. I take the contract renewals which are not in backlog as a positive, though of course they only are if they are indeed renewed. | hpcg
12/9/2013 17:11 | What shorters ? As I pointed out in post 606 of 635. Above the disclosure level of 0.5%, I believe you will find that there is just 1 fund short - Ennismore Fund Management at 1.21%. | yupawiese2010
12/9/2013 14:31 | The move to full list has been put on the back burner ("The Board believes that a move to the Full List in due course is in the best interest of shareholders but does not expect this to happen in the current financial year given other priorities.") Frankly, I'd have thought that getting the results out early more than made up for the lack of IMS. | jeffian
12/9/2013 11:35 | It was Bulford in RHPS who changed his tune from "Buy up to £7.50" to sell (on 11th July 2013). Having pushed it for goodness knows how long he said:- "Avanti is at the stage now where it needs to deliver the numbers to back up the optimism, and this is just not happening. I had high hopes for this company. I have shares in Avanti myself. But I'm afraid now is the time to SELL (Today's close: 166.75p)" Thank goodness I didn't, although a lot of people did I suspect. RHPS now has a new editor by the way, although I no longer subscribe. | 2vdm
12/9/2013 10:46 | Bye well!!! Avid shorter of stock hope you get called over ....Avn will be closer to £2.75 mate and you will be burning away lol Some you win some you lose in this case you will lose shorting its time you go long mate Regards | diablo1967
12/9/2013 07:19 | Thanks guys - I'd got the wrong end of the stick slightly. So from a hold to a (highly speculative) buy. Still a positive move. | count chris
11/9/2013 23:13 | T1ps never had as a sell, they downgraded to a hold in July , and upgraded today to highly speculative buy. With respect to their copyright - "With the shares trading at 230p at time of writing (and assuming a future rating in line with sector peers such as Inmarsat), there is therefore the potential for a very large capital gain - perhaps in the order of several multiples of the current share price - over the long term, should the company deliver" | gekks
11/9/2013 23:10 | In the past TW was very pro AVN when he was involved in T1ps and of course when SC went short on AVN there was strong disagreement between the two.....I suppose at the time one would have to say SC was right.....if only in the fact the share price was going down which it did at that time. | yorgi
11/9/2013 22:18 | I'm not taken with t1ps and only tend to read it when I'm at a lose end but I think they previously had AVN as a sell in which case this is a positive change of stance from them - can you confirm Gekks? | count chris
11/9/2013 21:20 | I'm long AVN with a large holding average £4 , I subscribe to T1ps . The recent update is the best news since Hylas 1,2 launched . Be interesting to see if stock on loan has reduced. | gekks |
