The difference is its a solid and growing business earning real money....and the share price chart only goes in one direction.......short away at peril.

PAY with PE 24, all the above shorters will be moving on to that one soon, lol.
Much better off with AAZ, IMHO of course.
So no selling going on today so all the derampers / shorters out in force, looking good think I'll top up some more, this is going to fly as the shorts close out.

AIM is risky so it goes with the territory. There are some good AIM shares with decent earnings though. Check out PAY.

The company needs a new management team who have the credibility and experience to exploit the assets. Failing that, the board should put the company up for sale.

oh dear, looking weak today!
Can't see what would turn this around prior to FY results - so not a good place to be sat holding waiting for the rebound (if it comes!).
And what if FY results show another missed target... even if only slightly off, the reputation is already in tatters.

What chance some further update before the final results?Surely the Directors are aware of the reaction to the trading update and would be keen to assist the share price if they believe there has been an overreaction?

This is turning out to be one of the worst stocks I have ever held for the long term. only ever seems to go in one direction and it aint up. Always loads of jam-----tomorrow.

As if you ever needed a reason to pay no attention to broker targets.
I remember when the big ragtag bag of energy assets acquired by an Indian company was floated as ESSAR energy around £4.50 with all the brokers giving big targets of between £8-10, today the share price is around £1.40
I am genuinely amazed that AVN still has such a high market cap given that it consistently fails to deliver and the chance of them making a profit in the near future is pretty remote.
I am keeping them on my watch list but as I mentioned before, they have used up all their goodwill and as such the share price is only going in one direction for now.

Cenkos the in house broker had a target of £23 back in 2010.

I remain a holder but I can sympathise with that view, Rogk.

AVN made a huge presentational blunder at the end of 2102 -

"11 July 2012
Total revenues and operating income for the 12 months to 30 June 2012 are expected to be £17.8m

10 October 2012
Financial Highlights
· Revenues and Other Operating Income increased by 246% to £15.0 million"

They tried to 'explain' this by saying they had adopted "more conservative accounting treatment" in anticipation of the move to Full List. "We continue to prepare the Board and corporate governance standards for life on the Full List".

You would expect that the lesson to be learned was not to do that again but, hey presto, they then miss a periodic IMS and when a statement does eventually appear, they miss forecast by a huge amount.

The answer lies within their own control. Interestingly, in preparing this post I note that their website has changed recently and they now have a contact facility for shareholders where previously they simply stated they didn't respond to shareholders emails and they have also removed the reporting programme which they failed to comply with.

I'm hoping for better things in the future, but Rogk has every right to be pi$$ed off with recent events.

Perhaps if people want to learn about the agenda of people posting here they would also do well to look at which tipster was previously recommending these as a buy and now has since gone bearish. A bit like this poster who was giving out investment advice 8 months ago....

The reason the share price has fallen is because the shorts have sold 2,000,000 shares in the last 2 months.

This is temporary and will have to be bought back as the company moves into profit.

Use the shorts to your advantage. Buy on the lows :)
