29/7/2013 22:13 | Quite agreed Blender, but Avanti should also be putting out a statement expanding this 'agreement'. What is with the management! Are they deliberately trying to test shareholder patience? All IMHO | jojaken
29/7/2013 12:05 | Satellite Broadband Internet Demand Increases Prompting Change in Hughes, ViaSat Business (USA focus but also of general interest) hxxp://www.satellite Re: Africa. From my direct experience, people should consider that most business customers will probably prefer a direct to satellite link which can run of local generators. Frequent electricity blackouts (including in major cities) tend to take down any communication networks and is far more annoying than a little latency thus making geo-sync satellites preferable. I would have hoped Avanti would be pushing these type of advantages when positioning themselves against the likes of o3B for African markets. | blender
29/7/2013 10:29 | Charting works because of the flock of sheep effect, unfortunately they don't take logic or sentiment into account. So I suggest charts wont do so well at this point when the sentiment has caused overselling and the logical thing since the company is far from bust, is for a rise from here which the chart will only see in hindsight. So the chart shows a downward trend, well..........DOH!!! | megordon
28/7/2013 22:56 | buywell, If charting worked, you wouldn't waste your time on free bb's with saddo's like us, you'd be paying PR people to keep your name out of the Sunday Times Rich List. | jeffian
28/7/2013 13:31 | Just because who is posting that snippet about SES, I am trying to work out the negative? Seems reasonable to expect some kind of frequency coordination and compensation in favour of Avanti. | blender
28/7/2013 12:46 | Ergo SES should buy AVN at this bargain price! | woozle1
28/7/2013 11:07 | Algorithms based upon charts and TA are used in automatic computer trading jeff That is why they work and the chart shapes repeat/cycle It has worked for me ... best thing I ever learned about Trading The Stock Market Online Technical Trading An Important Key To Successful Online Stock Trading By Thomas Sutton, RightLine Editor-in-Chief Technical trading is a powerful method used by many experienced online stock traders. However, the idea of trading the stock market using charts and indicators doesn't always make sense to new traders. A close look at what actually takes place in the "real world," makes it easy to see how price and volume action on a stock chart reveals more information than most people would ever imagine. technical trading stocks online Like thermal imaging, technical analysis converts price action into useful graphics. Let's start with the concept that sooner or later all news and fundamentals about a company are reflected in the stock price. The stock market accomplishes this process relatively fast, especially now that so many investors are going online for information. Company insiders are the first to know when events are underway that will impact the company's stock - THEIR stock. Although SEC regulations do govern what insiders can say and do with the information they obtain, the fact remains that people do talk. What starts out as quiet chatter among key employees soon spreads beyond the company's inner circle. These conversations quickly make their way to friends and acquaintances, who in turn share this exciting news with others. As more and more people hear about these "secrets" many will either buy or sell the stock to take advantage. As a result the stock chart begins to signal that something significant is taking place. Serious chart readers learn to recognize the signs of change. They watch closely to see if an opportunity exists to profit from the developing situation. This group includes what is commonly referred to as "smart money," traders with deep pockets who recognize what is going on and take action. Due to the size involved, their stock trading always shows up on the charts. Also involved in this process are approximately 4000 "semi pros," who according to CNBC, make up over 80% of the total daily online stock market trading volume. They are extremely active, trading an average of 50 times each session. Their days are spent banging into support and resistance levels to see what, if anything, gives. After reading the strength of these pivotal chart areas, they quickly decide to either hold onto their stock positions, or reverse and head in the other direction. In one sense they play the role of stock market "scouts" who push and pull at any possible weakness to find which direction prices are willing to go. These ever-active players are also the oil that lubricates the stock market online trading machine. They create constant price movement at the same time other less-active groups are sitting on the sidelines. It doesn't take long for the impact on price and volume draws patterns on the charts. These are powerful clues about where a specific stock - and on a larger scale the entire stock market - is ultimately headed. Bottom line? Anyone trading the stock market online should take note that charting works effectively in all markets in all time frames. This applies to short-term trading and long term investing alike. There is nothing new about all this. It has been known among technical analysts for decades. Those of us who use charts as part of our online stock trading strategy locate the pivotal levels, then go with the flow along with the intelligent money. While it does take effort to learn, this is certainly one skill that anyone trading the stock market should acquire! | buywell2

26/7/2013 13:27 | read this: hxxp://www.marinesat Satellite Frequency Bands Due to lower frequencies, L-Band is easiest to implement for marine satellite stabilised systems. There is not much L-Band bandwidth available. The higher you go in frequency, the more bandwidth is available, but the equipment needs to be more sophisticated. If one could equate the cost and availability of L-Band space segment to say, city real estate, C-Band might be the suburbs, Ku band the countryside, and Ka-Band the prairies of the wild west. Maybe a little more difficult to get to, but a lot of it available at a reasonable price. Being a relatively low frequency, L-band is easier to process, requiring less sophisticated and less expensive RF equipment, and due to a wider beam width, the pointing accuracy of the antenna does not have to be as accurate as the higher bands. | anusol

25/7/2013 07:45 | This is quite interesting from Viasat, talking about their "next generation Ka band satellite technology" which has a huge market in remote areas where cable is not available and for in-flight Wi-Fi, etc. This is where AVN should be heading in a year or 2, over a billion dollars in revenue, time to top up again! hxxp://www.viasat.co | megordon
24/7/2013 13:59 | There are essentially two ways to look at Avanti. One is the assets are worthless and that there is little or no demand for Ka bandwidth. In this case, there is no value in this company and the shorts are right and holders should just get out while they can. The second is that these assets have economic value. If this is the case, then why are management struggling to fill the capacity. These assets have a finite life and so long as they remain unutilised, the value continues to leach away. So, what are the options. One is to sell to an existing operator with the customer relationships and credibility to utilise the capacity. And the other is to get a new management team. Which ever way you look at the situation, unless there is solid delivery within the next 6 months, then the board need to replace the executive team or sell the company. Adult supervision is long overdue! Wx | woozle1
24/7/2013 13:12 | Hi Jeff, yes I see what you are saying but, what I mean is there are a lot of companies out there with no real source of income yet they have a massive Mcap. At least AVN have shown there is a great profit potential, they just have to make it happen. So I see this uncertain time as just a great buying opportunity, I also feel more comfortable when I see lots of fund investments. I know they are not dealing with their own money and do often throw it away on silly ideas but generally they have to do their best to make profits so they can get their huge bonuses and give the pensioners / policy holders their 4% gain for the year, or in the banks case maybe 1% interest. | megordon
24/7/2013 09:19 | #113, "...with good proven income streams" Isn't that just the point about AVN? That's exactly what they've failed to deliver (so far)! | jeffian
24/7/2013 07:52 | Management need to under-promise and over-deliver - rather than the other way around - in order to build investor confidence and the share price Nobody believes the forecast numbers ..... or at least the timescale for achieving. | melody9999
23/7/2013 15:44 | All the better Ricardo, buy when all are selling and wait for the rapid recovery when the shorts close out. PDX looks a bit high risk for me, I like cheap shares with good proven income streams and there's a lot around just now that look a much safer bet, IMHO, each to their own. AAZ, HGM, IQE, HOIL, MML, TCG, GAH, MDM, CEY and of course AVN, I have quite a few more but these I feel are the best of the ones I'm in for now. DYOR as always, just my opinion and no guarantees, it's always a gamble, look at even BP. one of the safest places to be until Horizon (I'm in them too now though luckily I wasn't then). | megordon
23/7/2013 15:26 | all this doom and gloom at a time when the DOW is hitting new heights.... lets hope there's no general weaking in the wider market during the next 6 months, or as ricardo says, £1 is easily on the cards. | anusol
23/7/2013 12:29 | On a serious note I think this may well drift down to the £1 mark without any significant upturn in news in my opinion, and even a great piece of news well may hit a brick wall with the current despair associated with this stock. DYOR. | ricardo125
23/7/2013 12:25 | Check out PDX a company with a rumoured billion pound potential. | ricardo125 |
