I'm adding at these levels, and have been reducing a few more speculative stocks to move money here.

Short term, it seems to me that this is almost certain to increase between 75-100% within the next 6 months - possibly more. And then longer term it should rise much further in the run up to HYLAS 2 in 2012.

HYLAS 1 launch now confirmed for September means interest will build up as we get ever closer.

Contract wins are accelerating as deadlines approach. (and indications are that Price per MHz is rising with demand).

consensus broker target price of 1230p will prove to be conservative in the longer run imo.

Hughes and Avanti Expand Ka-Band Satellite Services Footprint

2010-04-28 12:39

Multi-year deal raises orders to $42 Million for Hughes to supply Avanti with Ka-band technology and expand HYLAS 1 & 2 satellite broadband services across Europe/MEA GERMANTOWN, Md. and MILTON KEYNES, England, April 28 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Hughes Network Systems, LLC (HUGHES) today announced an $18 million, multi-year agreement to supply Avanti Communications Group, plc with advanced Ka-band networking infrastructure for Avanti's HYLAS 2 satellite, building on the initial $24 million contract to supply Ka-band technology for HYLAS 1 signed last October. Both deals include acquisition of satellite capacity by Hughes, which will be used to expand its Ka-band broadband services across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

Under the agreement, Hughes will supply Avanti with 48 advanced Ka-band system gateways for HYLAS 2, scheduled for launch in 2012, thereby raising the total to 56 gateways for both satellites, and complementing the prior order for 50,000 customer premise terminals. This powerful Ka-band architecture will enable the industry's most efficient delivery of bandwidth-demanding services, such as digital signage and distance learning for enterprises, and large-scale, high-speed Internet services for consumers and small businesses. In addition, it will open new potential for government and defense applications throughout the region, from high-speed Internet access for troops in the field, to sophisticated broadband on-the-move solutions. Taken together, HYLAS 1 and 2 have the capacity to serve a population of approximately 1 million broadband sites...

Avanti Communications* - Potential £113.4 million Hylas 2 Capacity Sale

Article Avanti Communications* - Potential £113.4 million Hylas 2 Capacity Sale

Avanti Communications* (AVN) has announced the sale of an option over capacity on its Hylas 2 satellite to "a Government customer". Avanti is to receive a fee of £280,000 for the option, which is structured as a 'right of first refusal' valid for three years. The contract price per MHz is "significantly higher than previous sales" and, if fully exercised, the contract will be worth up to £113.4 million to Avanti over a three year period. The agreement also contemplates further collaboration between the two parties in relation to other Hylas capacity.

The move represents a potential third sale of capacity on Hylas 2 just three months after financing and two years before planned launch – with the company reflecting it "provides further clear demonstration of the exceptional demand for our very scarce resource - at good prices - and our ability to execute our sales strategy".

Avanti shares are presently up just over 3% on this news to 527.5p. The size of the potential deal is evidently striking but as I have always been relaxed about the demand for the company's services, my attention was particularly drawn to the tone regarding the pricing Avanti has been able to negotiate. The confident tone of "significantly higher than previous sales" was backed up by a chat with the company this afternoon and, with the demand story here seemingly improving by the day, I now believe my 500p limit buy price and 850p near-term share price target to be too cautious.

Even small tweaks - which still to my mind look overly cautious - to valuation models generate £10+ share price targets and I have seen a recent analysis by Commerzbank which notes the consensus broker target price for the shares at 1230p. I believe more still will be delivered as perceived risks such as launch and further capacity sales are passed through and the company continues to expand its operations. As such, the limit buy price is increased to 650p, with my next target for the shares £10. With even more value than this looking set to be delivered further down the line and, although already massively ahead on the 117p 2004 t1p, the stance at 527.5p and now up to 650p is "buy".

Charles Stanley have increased theri Buy target:

We maintain our Strong Buy recommendation, but have increased the price level to which this would apply to 550p in the short term and 600p in the medium term

the chart has confidently confirmed a new uptrend. Volume is good and the recent announcements regarding contracts all adds to the potential of this company. You would assume that as we have a few months to wait until the september launch there will be the inevitable rises and falls on the chart, yet with the satellite launch confirmed this will simply provide top up points on the dips as we steadily approach the summer months.

All looking good here. Good luck to all holders

Welcome aboard Julcester. I bought down around 200p made a profit and sold thinking I had done well :-((( Pleased about recent fall and got back in around 450p and it still looks like a good buy for the long term.

Bought some today. Absolutely gutted as my brother tipped me this at half the SP, but believe this to be an amazing opportunity. I remember thinking TLW was overpriced at £4.50 and I'm not making the same mistake again.

Yea - bloody EME I hate it, only consolation I have is AVN bought at 460 a fortnight ago and huge gains on GMC's 200% rise. AVN looking good if the space on 2012 sat is being taken up so soon.

Ah the crafty mm's. With yesterdays early jump then return almost to starting point suggests this was known about yesterday but after no RNS the share price came back. Whatever more excellent news. Gutted funds were tight so unable to top up when below a fiver. Please - nobody mention EME.

Contract Win

Avanti Communications Group plc (AIM: AVN), the broadband satellite operator, is
pleased to announce that it has signed a contract with a Government customer for
the sale of an option over specific capacity on the HYLAS 2 satellite, which
serves the Middle East, Africa and Europe.

Under the option, which is structured as a Right of First Refusal valid for
three years, the customer may purchase a specific amount of capacity on HYLAS 2
which, if fully exercised, will be worth up to GBP113.4 million to Avanti over a
three year period. In return, Avanti will receive an option fee of GBP280,000.
The contract price per MHz is significantly higher than previous sales.

The Agreement also contemplates further collaboration between the two parties in
relation to other capacity on the HYLAS fleet.

Commenting on the contract, David Williams, Avanti Chief Executive, said:

"This is our third sale of capacity on Hylas 2, just three months after we
financed and two years before it is launched in 2012. This contract provides
further clear demonstration of the exceptional demand for our very scarce
resource - at good prices - and our ability to execute our sales strategy."
