22/4/2012 18:40 | Yorgi, Plasbryn, thanks much appreciated. Re. the US military contract , a fairly clued up poster on another site has said that all of the bidders have said that they intend to use H2 so as long as they go ahead with the contract then Avanti get the business. | colva
22/4/2012 18:12 | did anyone drop by Forbidden Technologies or @UK stands by any chance at master investor? any views? sorry a bit OT | geheimnis2
22/4/2012 18:04 | Cheers Plasbryn. £170mln was mentioned in one of the recent RNS Sounds great but they need to seal the deal. | bump3r
22/4/2012 18:00 | Sold my holding in avn on 5th dec at 311.59 and used the money to add to my holding in blt.Thought today I would check the current price thinking that by now the price would probably be more than my selling price and that Iwould be kicking myself.Instead I am giving myself a pat on the back.I really hope that things will come right for you guys still holding.Good luck. | levi 2
22/4/2012 17:45 | yorgi: Yes that was me! Yes I agree with your comments. Disappointing a director was not present. Getting a Consultant to do your communication at such an event is a poor show. Sean was OK, but he has only been in the Coy. 6 months as is not director level. Where is their enthusiasm and pride to project the excitment/confidence they have for their own co. Bump3r: Excited about ongoing military opportunities, but nothing stated to my knowledge regarding numbers. | plasybryn
22/4/2012 17:16 | Cheers for the updates guys. Any news on the military contract? | bump3r
22/4/2012 16:44 | Tweed sports jacket, jeans, short hair wearing glasses ? Yes I would have been pleased to have met....I did meet a Atlantic and Dhamilton yesterday but we have have met before......always good to put a face to name. Do you think I have interpreted things about right ? Also do you think I am making a fair comment about the directors or am I overeacting ? EDIT Oh and slowworm on EMED who I have not met before. | yorgi
22/4/2012 16:28 | yorgi: where you the guy in the brown jacket. I think we must have been stood next to each other whilst asking questions! Sorry I didn't introduce myself. | plasybryn
22/4/2012 16:23 | Your welcome Gary, the only negative comment I would make is with BOD the size it is not one could make an appearance. | yorgi
22/4/2012 16:19 | Thanks yorgi, Plasybryn. Reassuring to hear all is still on track. So patience..... | garymott
22/4/2012 14:34 | Hi Guys, Sorry I have been a bit slow in updating you on my feedback from yesterday. I think Plasybryn has summed well pretty much as I understood. Hylas 1 is on target with sales, I think it is just under 50% sold in a year and with just over 50% to be sold in the next two years to meet the target they set themselves. Hylas 2 has a date for launch on the 30th June. Plenty of business in UK and they did not see 4G as competition or a threat to their business. They see far greater business from the Middle East, Africa and the developing world. With military business for Hylas 2 Generally confident that all was well, but I guess they would say that. I did make my point that as a private shareholder how it had been impossible to speak to anyone in the company when I had wanted to and I believe this was understood and taken on board. All told quite happy with what I was told. | yorgi
22/4/2012 13:13 | I certainly think its good value. Convinced the mrs to put some of her hard earned cash into this at 2.53 so better come good or im in for an earful. Thanks Plasybryn | jonnib
22/4/2012 13:07 | Thanks for the feedback Plasbryn. | hpcg
22/4/2012 12:53 | No director present, but company said all is on plan. Hylas 2 undergoing final testing for launch as planned. Contract wins and pipeline business (c. £530m)in line with expectations. Agreed that share price at £7 got ahead of itself, but now repesents good value. I think that is fair comment and once Hylas 2 is successfully launched, and the Coy becomes cashflow positive, I suspect it will attract a lot of positive attention again | plasybryn
22/4/2012 12:50 | Small piece on fibre optics. Cant see it being implemented myself as it would cost way more than the government has set aside. The government has been advised not to attempt to deliver fibre broadband services to every property in the UK. The rollout of universal fibre optic broadband in the UK is a "preposterous notion", according to Avanti Communications. In written evidence to the House of Lords select committee inquiry into super-fast internet services, the satellite broadband provider argued that this goal "ignores fundamental economics". If the government's £530 million cash pot to boost UK broadband speeds and provision is directed solely at fibre, it will either subsidise deployments in urban areas where they would already have taken place, or fund pilots that will end when the subsidy finishes, the company argued. Consequently, Avanti said the government should reprioritise its broadband goals to ensure every home and business can access 2Mbps speeds, pointing out that satellite services can deliver universal 10Mbps connectivity. It added that fibre optic broadband is only essential if multiple occupants of a household are simultaneously streaming high-definition video content. "We believe that government has got carried away promoting a technical standard which is unnecessary, impractical and not at all analysed or clearly understood," the company stated. BT has repeatedly insisted that it will be able to deliver fibre optic broadband services to 90 per cent of the UK if it is awarded the bulk of the government funding. | jonnib
20/4/2012 23:47 | Good point! 8-) | jeffian
20/4/2012 17:54 | yorgi, I think you're being too harsh in talking about a "refusal to communicate with PI's". We've had a very comprehensive update (the Interims) only just over 2 months ago followed by 3 'contract win' announcements and a number of significant Director buys. We have also been told Hylas2 is on track for a July launch. What more do you want to be told? It is not up to Directors to keep up a running commentary on the share price performance via the RNS service and, anyway, the market value of their shares is simply beyond their control. By all means try to get as much information out of them as you can, but if you start off on the basis of 'giving them a hard time' you may well find that approach counter-productive. | jeffian
20/4/2012 17:10 | Colva, I shall look forward to visiting their stand at the show tomorrow, if they are there ! I shall make known my and other shareholders dissatisfaction with their refusal to communicate with PI's as others have commented treating us with no respect. They may not be able to do anything about the share price but they could be more communicative with their shareholders......th When we had SK posting false information I phoned them to speak to someone and got nowhere but was referred to Jefferies I think from memory.......and they would not tell me anything either. In hindsight I should have sold up then on a matter of principal if nothing else. I have to say to me their appearance at the Mi show has more to do with their dreadful share price performance more than anything else in my view. | yorgi
20/4/2012 16:59 | Yorgi, Yes it's frustrating , we're due some news regarding the H3 deal with ESA which was due to be signed in march and were only a couple of months from H2 launch and the large military contract around the same time, as you mentioned previously there will be those that will want to wait to see the year end 30th June numbers to make sure the company are on track . | colva
20/4/2012 15:15 | The only problem seems to be Colva the share price does not seem to want to go near it :-( | yorgi |
