last year we had a trading update on 18th April. I see no reason to suppose we won't get one this year.

Do we normally get a trading update this time of year? We had one in Feb so I wouldn`t expect another till after H2 launch.

would be nice to get an update on Hylas-2.

I assume we'll get that with trading update.

Good posting Jeffin :-) but seeds of doubt were sown last year and until AVN come up with some numbers to show reflect this I fear we may languish down here a while longer :-(

I'm a shareholder in Cobham which, among other things, provides kit for Inmarsat. Those claiming that AVN will suffer from competition or suffer disappointing demand may be interested to see the following comments from Cobham -

"Cobham specialises in meeting the insatiable demand for data, connectivity and bandwidth in defence, security and commercial environments."

N.B. "insatiable demand"

a very good write up in this week's Shares mag, quoting the DCF £25 Cenkos and Daniel Stewart targets

Agree piadda - especially if we have to have those horrid masts every 10 km or so! They can't be cheap.

BBC review of 4G. Seems as though there are still plenty of gaps for Avanti:

For those wandering why the spike down today:

This was mm's seeing the 230 stops and taking them out

Dirty tricks - that's what they do all the time

Don't have stops too near the share price is my advice

mmmmm, interseting day.

Looked a bit tree-shakey to me IMO.

If we analise the days events we see zero volume until about 3:30. What happens next is 240p support is breached (hardly a surprise given wider market data). As others have commented the stops then get taken, volume rises sharply as the MMs buy orders get filled). Good day for them.

Looking at the longeer term chart, I' looking for the bottom of the bowl. 240p is what I've been looking at of late but TBH my BUY order isn't on the table yet since I'm not convinced we're at the bottom just yet. Others may see it differently and they may well be responsible for filling their boots late today.

samenic - more likley as it fell below the previous low at 240p a number of stops were triggered - mine included. Nice recovery though - good luck to holders.

Someone took the opportunity to take advantage of the Wendy's to buy, from my calcs and watching L2, about 118k shares in the last 30 mins, using both the bid and offer, went from 230p to 243p finish.

Actually it is very much a game for girls (and boys). A few sell, the price drops, people panic, buyers come in ....bla bla bla

we might get a trading update next week - last year it was 18/4.

is today's drop a signal that the update won't be as good as expected ?

I had the impression that maybe Hylas-1 sales were easing a bit while Hylas-2 was going faster than budget. this might mean that actual revenues could be a bit lower than expected until Hylas-2 gets operational - which I would hope would be before end-Aug.

I'm not making light of the drop today but we have seen those sudden spikes down like that before which it soon recovers from.......but that is not to make light of the continuing fall which seems to defy all logic.
