Originally Avanti had planned to launch a third large satellite financed by bank borrowings secured
against advance sales. However, the tightening of lending criteria by the banks has made this option
increasingly unattractive and so Avanti has jumped at the chance to pursue an alternative.
At the end of 2011, however, the opportunity arose for it to launch HYLAS 3 on board a new
European Space Agency (ESA) satellite scheduled for 2015. The 4GHz capacity of this third satellite is
less than the capacity that Avanti had originally envisaged for HYLAS 3, the launch will be later, and to
secure this arrangement Avanti has had to raise £75m of cash through a share issue.

would like to see a firm date for HYLAS 2 launch. unfortunately Arianespace only show the very next mission to go.

following today's successful launch the latest European Automated Transfer Vehicle (ATV) for servicing of the International Space Station Arianespace's next flight from the Spaceport is planned for May 15, using an Ariane 5 ECA version to place two telecommunications satellites into geostationary transfer orbit: Japan's JCSAT-13 and VINASAT-2 for Vietnam.

I imagine HYLAS 2 would be the next after that.

Now that it has slipped below 250p I expect it to drop further and settle at 175p prior to the launch. After the launch we may see it rise to the 350p level where I would expect it to remain for a few years.

I can see no evidence for this assessment. Presumably you do so would you like to share it with me?

I'm reticent about putting my charts up but as I now know how to do it there was an interesting mini signal this morning when the bid went up to 257.25 momentarily. There is now a longish upward shadow on todays intraday candle which stops where I have the top of this short-term channel.

Buys this last hour have now started out pacing sells. I know a lot of people don't care for charts but banks and big institutions use them all the time. Difference is, they have better software than me and loads more experience and resources.

So for what it's worth, below is my short term chart. Please bear in mind this is very, very short term and comes with no guarantees. But I use similar graphs elsewhere with varying degrees of success. They suit MY needs.

For anyone who thinks I'm trying to give financial advise here, I'm not. Nor am I ramping or de-ramping. I'm responding to an earlier post and would restate that IMO we need a few closes or intraday highs that 'reach' towards the dotted line on the short term upward trend channel.

smythy3 8140 - Good post. Echo your sentiments in the last paragraph 100%.

I may be stuck in a time warp but I have 20mb broadband and it's rarely less than 12mb. It's only 5 years ago we were still on dial-up at 512kb and at the time I was quite happy with that. 12mb (and thats when the band width is under load) is fast enough for my 'social' needs. Download albums in 12 to 15 minutes, and films in around about 1 hour depending on their size.

I don't get why you would want to download a film via a 'mobile' (or even large music files). Crazy IMO. It has to be far easier to set the download for during the evening or night or while your at work on a PC.

Sorry, but I can't see the need for ever faster Internet speeds to mobiles. My dad used to say "Its overkill lad. Like trying to crack a walnut with a sledge hammer". This (ever faster mobiles) is similar but like trying to crack a sledge hammer with a walnut, if you get my gist.

Business and military usage, however, are totally different.

It all adds up :-)

It has been said many time value will out in the end and so it will here and I strongly believe it will this year. AVN was hit hard by the shorters last years and disinformation being pumped out as well and many peoples confidence was knocked and as the share price fell more doubted and sold and further it fell.

During this time the directors have put substantial amounts of their own money in and AVN have continued to win business at a good price and H1 is ahead of it's early predictions for sales so all is going well but the share price

I'm sure that is about to change.

Also a second contract win today; I just went on Avanti's website and saw another contract win as well as this morning's RNS. This one's for Business Internet Continuity to a company called Onyx. Must be smaller if not announced to market but all good stuff, especially to see more BIC sales. I see that thing that Smythy writes about 80% of capacity going to be over Africa and Middle East too - right at the bottomw
