04/4/2011 16:08 | Greengiant, Stocks that have huge growth potential are expensive by nature as is AVN and as it becomes clearer that this is the case as there will be RNS, research, opinions from others that will show this to be evident and then investors will want to get in before it is much higher. We all know this can move rapidly both up as well as down. I don't think management not releasing RNS for normal small contracts in any way suggests they have anything to hide. What I will agree with you on that patience is required as is often the case but patience will be rewarded here I'm quite sure. | yorgi
04/4/2011 15:58 | yorgi, Why will people realise that it is oversold? Like I said earlier, according to all normal matrices, this is expensive, and after such a spectacular drop why would they be willing to rush back in? No problem with the small contracts not being announced, but again, a change in policy which gives the impression that they are trying to hide things. Just looking at this from a neutral point of view. Not remotely concerned by the share price fall, like I said, it only moves on news and news will be forthcoming, however, I don't think all that soon. Patience required here, the story remains intact. gg | greengiant
04/4/2011 15:53 | What is going to change ! People will realise it has been oversold and will want buy in before it takes off again and then the shorters will have to close in a hurry and that will add to the momentum. The board may not release RNS's for normal contracts and that makes good sense why waste money on that but when some big contracts are signed. Feedback gets around that the service works well. One of the "big boys" starts sniffing around again. The launch of Hylas2 gets closer, a combination of these and the share price could rise as quick as it fell but only time will tell. | yorgi
04/4/2011 15:43 | pojscott, On any matrix this looks expensive which is why SC believes it is "grossly overvalued" after all they only have 1 satellite in the sky with only a small % that has so far been contracted. That is me guessing of course because only the management know what % of the satellite has been leased out. Management have now decided not to release RNS for normal contracts, whilst this makes sense, it seems to play into the shorters hands. So what is going to change this? In the short term, only a positive update on contracts, positive update on H2 or update on H3. In the meantime, I can see no immediate upside, but happy to hold can see something of a technical rise, but nothing exciting gg | greengiant
04/4/2011 15:41 | Annoying yes but I don't think it is a big deal unless one needs to sell now if one needs the cash. | yorgi
04/4/2011 15:39 | So am I Pojscott but as long as the "story" is sound and you have to make your own mind up then the turn will come. A completely different stock I know but CGNR, one I hold and it has been dropping for weeks and those that had done their homework kept saying the drop was madness. Today up 27% and no RNS released today either. I'm confident like plenty of others that AVN makes sense and has been attacked by shorters and at the moment they are winning but it won't last. Do you really think all the directors would have put their own money in if they weren't confident in their ability to make a profit with the company. Also only a few weeks ago Caledonia added to their holding with a substantial amount of money. | yorgi
04/4/2011 14:37 | Some good post's BUT BUT BUT the S/P continues its way down and I am now losing money!!! | pojscott
04/4/2011 12:37 | A VERY well respected publication. Also no one can say they are paid by AVN to do a report and somehow I think the guys working for Techinvest doing the research know somewhat more than some of our recent doubters........by a long way ! | yorgi
04/4/2011 12:28 | Tipped as a buy in this months Techinvest | restassured
04/4/2011 10:20 | Good post Backmarker :-) | yorgi
04/4/2011 10:16 | Decided to sell, the chart and that buy recommendation says it all. | amt
04/4/2011 10:12 | Mr Cawkwell, as you believe AVN is still grossly over valued, could you tell the board the price at which it becomes a fair value stock, as some I noted believed ~ 450p was a fair price. Evidently you donĀ“t so could you enlighten us further. TIA | via con
04/4/2011 09:53 | cawky i think people have lost interest in you, to be honest | geheimnis2
04/4/2011 09:33 | Jeffian, it's all been said we just have to be patient and let AVN do the talking and prove that he is wrong but his disciples have made him money here for the moment. | yorgi
04/4/2011 09:22 | Stunned silence? I imagine Simon's lines are jammed! | jeffian
03/4/2011 15:18 | There is no publically available trading history of EK so from a logical standpoint it's impossible to determine whether his overall results are any good. He appears to get it right sometimes, but at others he gets it wrong in spectacular fashion. | protean
03/4/2011 15:04 | GaryMott: "I can only come to one conclusion; that he is not a well considered, serious investor unlike many PIs on this BB, but instead a wreckless, speculator. It amazes me that anyone at all follows his tips because the risk of losing much of your investment appears quite high." Even if the person posting here was really SC, I have suspected for some years that he is not actually a speculator but is just a tipster. In other words, that his claims of huge profits are mainly BS. | b1ggles

03/4/2011 10:46 | One of 5 stocks to double: "Avanti Communications at 444.75p. These shares have been battered by short sellers (EK) aided by the dissemination of untruths and bad maths. Decimal points do matter. The company has increasing visibility of earnings and the successful launch of satellite 1 (HYLAS) derisks the proposition. Management have bought £500,000 of shares in the market since EK started getting his decimal points mixed up and going short. We have also bought more shares. I continue to value these shares on a DCF basis at £20 plus. If I am half wrong there is still 150% upside." | protean
03/4/2011 08:20 | I'll take it out. Nothing to do with the econimic situation. Not relevant to a financial bb. I do not know anyone personally who uses that title, but I regret bringing it up. | polythene
02/4/2011 23:49 | Bloody hell! Seeing the news tonight from over there, the above is quite an unattractive mindset. Get over it! If we can put the Wars of the Roses behind us, surely you lot can forget the Battle of the Boyne? | jeffian
