You never know with ATH, however at current levels someone/a 3rd party may be able to strike a deal, down to the debt really. MCAP is currently at 330k!, last bid talks (year ago) MCAP was at 15-20 million ish with a little more debt!! and the situation was similar to todays.. so its possible any deal could increase the share price by 200-400% from 0.8p.

Total gamble with possible huge gains from here, however, could fold at anytime without an investor/buyer seeing value and doing a deal. Would not suprise me if a deal was doable tho'.

Given the RNS on the 15th, which included the statement "it is unlikely that shareholder value will be maintained following any possible restructuring." I'm more surprised that anyone is buying shares rather than that anyone is selling them. To that extent, the number of trades is encouraging, suggesting that someone might think there is still some value here. Perhaps the buyers are merely closing short positions.

I wouldn't be a seller, although towards the end of the tax year there may be sellers wanting to crystallise losses. I'm not moved to buy, though. They've been unlucky, but the price of coal and gasoil are still moving in opposite (unfavourable) directions.

Its like this, the market cap of the company is at roughly £350000!! which is in real terms is saying that they are worth zero. Thats funny because they are still operating, paying there Bills and selling the Coal.
I think the call to abandon ship was made too early, we could be looking at a nice return here as long as we stay afloat. I have a feeling we will get an update within a week or so saying all is not lost or words to that effect.
Money for jam at this stage

I cant believe the level of selling for a company with only 40.08m shares in issue. Large blocks of 2 and 300k sells over the last few days.
Looks like all the PIs have dumped there stock which is stupid really at these prices. The money is still flowing so all is not lost yet, when a company goes to the edge it can still turn around as all costs, sales contract prices etc are back up on the table so who knows.
I`ve taken a punt @0.083p this morning for 100k of shares, funny old game this but that would have cost me at least £50 or £60k 3 years ago and then there wouldn't be 100k shares sold all week!!!

totally .... why ? They have been unable to control costs ... they will probably carry out a huge DfE at high 90's. Then several months down the line run out of cash again.

This sounds like to me the beginning of the end for this poorly ran company. It reminds me of the companies that consolidate, to help improve liquidity to help shareholders in the long run, then drop some much over the coming month/year that they have to consolidate again.

AVOID

"it is unlikely that shareholder value will be maintained"-nearly spilt my coffee on reading that part!

Gave up on this ages ago but worth a punt at this level? who knows...

Rough translation :- PI are screwed.

I am not sure why PI's continue to hold after this news. Seems like a huge DfE and still no cure for spiralling costs.

ATH Resources plc

("ATH" or the "Company" or the "Group")

Update on Restructuring

On 5(th) October 2012, the Company announced that it was in discussions with its key stakeholders to secure support for a proposed refinancing plan. Consultations with key stakeholders, including the Company's lenders, are continuing, but developments over the past week have led the Directors to believe that the Company is unlikely to attract the level of capital required to continue operating without a restructuring of the Group. Given the level of liabilities within the Company, it is unlikely that shareholder value will be maintained following any possible restructuring.

Accordingly, the Company has instructed Deloitte LLP to advise on all restructuring options that may be available and to assist the Board in considering the merit of any proposals from parties who may be interested in investing in or acquiring the business.

The Company will update the market on developments in due course.

I am beginning to wonder about the management of this firm, they have ridden the high price of Coal, and seem unable to manage spiraling costs and problems. I'm glad I averaged it down and only have limited exposure to it. This is my worst performing stock, what a stinker.

- Operating loss before exceptional items of GBP3.9 million, after including a provision of GBP1.1million in respect of the Government's Carbon Reduction Scheme (2011: profit GBP1.7 million) -

So discounting that government subsidy it has effectively swung from a £1.7m profit to a £5m loss. And is putting a significant portion of its operations on hold till some unknown date in the future.

Like the last government. When credit was easy,it piled on the debt.It used dodgy accounting to pay big dividends out of it's so called profits. When the coal price was high it did'nt pay down debt.

Another profits warning this morning from ATH

"..Reduced coal prices also continue to impact on the Company's margins and this will result in further reductions to the Board's expectations of trading performance..."
