rj, the case is not a complete rehearing. The grounds for appeal would be quite limited hence the fifteen hours. I have tried to get a copy of the permission to appeal, however this does not seem to be available.

If I am not busy I might go along. I must be sad!

You can bet that when/if Grant Thornton lose they will try and appeal to the Supreme Court. It is quite a high test to get to the Supreme Court as it has to be on a point of law that is in the public interest.

Generally the Court of Appeal does not grant permission to appeal to the Supreme Court. Once an application is refused you can then appeal direct to the Supreme Court for the case to be heard. This is usually decided by three of the Supreme Court Judges there after with a short written decision as whether you have gained the right to be heard.

If it is eventually heard by the Supreme Court it would probably only be a morning.

My guess is that the shares were sold as a favour; may be to Tudor Davies (the current CEO). He and Mills go back a long way when he was CEO of Dowding & Mills, which got taken private by Mills and eventually sold for 4 times the price he paid.

I still think that Mills will back a business into this entity, once the issue with GT has been settled. He's lost a lot of money in this company since he got involved and using the cash here to buy a business would convert the cash into something much more valuable than implied at the moment.

Excellent Konrad - thanks for letting me know.

Do you have any insight in how they set the length of the hearing - is it related to the complexity of the case? ie. Can it be used as an indicator? Fifteen hours to me doesnt sound like much.

The Court of Appeal hearing is on the Gov. web site and is provisionally set down for dates between 20th. and 22nd. January. A total of fifteen hours for the hearing.

The three judges have yet to be allocated.

Chris Mills and Harwood are one and the same. It was an out and out sale by Harwood.

I think you'll find that Chris Mills actually reduced his holding according to the announcements.

I note Chris Mills and Harwood Capital LLP upped their stakes on 10th.October.

I wonder who sold the stock to them as there is virtually none available through the market.

More good mood music with Grant Thornton being the auditors to Sports Direct.

Woozle1, looking back at my posts I am repeating myself! It happens with age.

I always like to ask the negatives on stocks anyone is buying. I can real out the positives here however you might have a negative I have not factored in.

Woozle1, it was in certificate form so I do not pay for a few days. It was done 'by appointment'.

This is why you cannot use an on line 'cheapy' broker to buy this sort of stock.

Get your broker to phone the market makers.

Amazed you got any shares. I've been bidding for stock for weeks; even in teeny weeny lots.

I bought back in here recently too. At this price it looks like a low risk/high reward type punt with little downside thanks to the balance sheet and the potential of 100% gain if the appeal is unsuccessful and hopefully less than a year to wait to find out.

rjmaham, I did notice in the last statement from the company, the appeal is due to be heard at the Court of Appeal in January 2020.

It usually takes circa eight weeks to get a 'hand down'after such a hearing. Then I guess we will know on which narrow ground or grounds G.T. will try and appeal to the Supreme Court.

I really do not think there will be much clarity for at least nine months and potentially longer.

I did buy a few more this week.

I hear they are coming around to put the white jacket on me shortly and escort me off to the 'funny farm'!

Yes, more chaos at GT - less likely to go further if they lose their appeal.

Grant Thornton put in to special measures by audit regulator.

More good 'mood music'.

Not sure - you work it out by putting in (say) 5k and see if you can get filled on that, then go up to 10...

Keep doing it...

Got a feeling the share price will be up again tomorrow.....
