I read the form as Connor, Clark & Lunn Investment Management Ltd have a 1% stake in Barrick Gold. Other than the title, I don't get the connection to ARS.

What are you trying to say? It is on LSE website under ARS

Don't shoot the messenger but I have a suspicion that the 8.3 notice is nothing to do with Asiamet. First of all the Asiamet name doesn't appear anywhere, the 1.3% ties in with the Barrick shares in issue (1.17bn)and the Can$16.5388 is £9.90 (not 9.9p!). Can$16.5388 is also the Barrick share price.

A question for the pedants among you. If ARS have 937m shares and Barrick have bought 15.1m, shouldn't their stake be 1.6%, not the 1.3% mentioned in the RNS.

With SOLG we have Newcrest and BHP both in there , some say wanting to get their foot in but not necessarily a take over. Interesting none the less.

Very good news re. Barrick imo. Restores A lot of confidence for me.

Will they become the strategic partner? Will the rangold merger affect this?

Lots of positive questions to consider on the back of this development.

Onwards and upwards or least sidewards from here please. The share price slide was becoming depressing

They would have bought these shares prior to the recent RNSs. Why has I taken so long to declare?

We are not in a takeover situation - assuming this isn't an admin error.

Barrick are in M&A activity elsewhere and are therefore obliged under market rules to issue a holding RNS for anything they hold over 1% in any other company.

That is not to say it isn't very interesting , especially at the apparent price paid, and therefore there is always the chance they will increase their holding at these levels and then it becomes much more of an option over the coming months / years that they might decide to bid for the lot

If Barrick saw fit to buy at c 10p , hopefully they see fit to buy sone more at 6.3p.

cyberbub,

Barrick and Randgold are in process of merging, so have to declare any stakes

Because we are not in a takeover situation. Barrick are buying rand gold and have to declare all other holdings above 1% from memory

Just looked in and seen the 8.3 RNS - what's going on?! If we're in a takeover situation why hasn't there been a separate RNS?
