04/2/2020 17:47 | Perhaps you inadvertently hold some in funds? | uppompeii
04/2/2020 17:36 | Evening All It looks a long wait for the 200 day. Managed to grab a few when it filled the gap, so I am at least a holder. I was expecting a bigger retrace, but what the hell! With all the head winds I am happy to sit on my hands for a while. So its one - nil to the long term holders. Cheers | 2flatpack
04/2/2020 17:36 | Doh! It pains me to say this, but of course you are right. Did you manage to short the gap fill? | perfido
04/2/2020 17:12 | Not so perfido. All Time Closing High was 2592 on 29 January. Please pay attention! | bracke
04/2/2020 16:39 | Nice day, +103p (4.1%), a new closing high of 2590p if I'm not mistaken. Perhaps the recent date palindrome was more significant than I imagined? . | perfido
03/2/2020 09:30 | uppompeii Lol! ... no comment! . | perfido
02/2/2020 16:44 | It may signal another share buyback? | uppompeii
02/2/2020 09:58 | Fans of palindromes can't fail to have noticed that today's date in numeric form is an exceptional example: 02/02/2020 - the only one of this century. Aparently the last time such a palindrome occurred was 909 years ago on 11/11/1111. It won’t happen again for another 101 years, when the calendar turns to 12/12/2121 What bearing has this on investment? None as far as I'm aware :-) | perfido
31/1/2020 13:48 | perfido The gap shows no sign of being a breakaway so I suggest there is a high probability it will fill in the short to medium term. | bracke
31/1/2020 13:42 | Good afternoon bracke, Yes of course you're right. AHT is still avoiding the gap of 17th Jan too. Interesting to see what URI does this afternoon, yesterdays fall looks a bit overdone IMHO | perfido
31/1/2020 13:30 | Good day perfido "(I don't think there is a direct read-across to AHT here). ==================== Since when did that stop the market from taking advantage for a spot of volatility whether it is justified or not. I note it is being held at £25. | bracke
31/1/2020 11:12 | URI Earnings Call transcript (30/01/20 11am) is worth dipping into: It seems that retrenchment in the upstream Oil and Gas part of the business and disappointing utilization has impacted results and dampened outlook for 2020.. (I don't think there is a direct read-across to AHT here). | perfido
31/1/2020 10:02 | URI Q4 and Annual Results were published 29/01/20 21.15pm: Matthew Flannery, chief executive officer of United Rentals, said, “Our fourth quarter contributed to a solid year of profitable growth and returns. Results were driven by growth in our core construction end-markets, while challenges in our industrial verticals impacted both revenue and margins in the quarter. For the year, we grew pro forma rental revenue and adjusted EBITDA by over 4%, while integrating our acquisitions, and generated free cash flow of almost $1.6 billion.” Flannery continued, “Our 2020 outlook reflects the profitable growth we expect to deliver in what is forecasted to be a slower growth phase of this continuing upcycle. We are well positioned to support our customers across the end-markets we serve, while remaining disciplined in our approach to capex. We expect to generate higher free cash flow this year, which is earmarked to pay down debt and buy back shares.” URI shares subsequently fell <>10% the next day to 141.58 . | perfido
29/1/2020 11:16 | Pothole fund ? No ! Get new roads, bridges , buildings ..... put the demand for equipment up and migrate more construction companies to hiring plant - you know it makes sense..... | fenners66
29/1/2020 09:06 | US Infrastructure Legislation House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on January 16th announced Democrats would unveil infrastructure legislation when the chamber returns from recess the week of January 27th. While the legislation unveiled will be the work of multiple committees, House Committee on Transportation & Infrastructure Chairman Peter DeFazio (D-Ore.) will lead the rollout. The House Ways & Means Committee meets January 29th to discuss highway funding. The Moving America Forward forum - the Moving America Forward forum, convened by United for Infrastructure, will be held in Las Vegas over Presidents Day weekend, which is February 15th-17th. This provides a bipartisan forum for Presidential candidates to address their plans for infrastructure jobs and the economy. The plans from the leading candidates include:Joe Biden: The former vice president's $1.3 trillion infrastructure plan aims to reduce car emissions, create jobs, and ensure the HTF has new revenues to stay solvent. He has proposed spending $50bn IN his first year in office on repairing existing roads and bridges.Mike Bloomberg: has proposed investing more than a trillion dollars in roads, pipes, railways, and telecommunication lines. He promises to fix 240,000 miles of roads and 16,000 bridges in disrepair by 2025, by spending $850bn over 10 years on capital projects and coming up with a $1bn annual pothole fund for emergency repairs. | smcni1968
28/1/2020 19:11 | 2018 was a totally different scenario - everything pretty much fell off a cliff. I'd already flattened most of my trades as most of the major trends had broken. We are in a bull leg now where strong stocks will go sideways or have very modest sell offs when the market pulls back like now. Been systematically trading for many years | davr0s
28/1/2020 18:58 | Thanks Davros, You obviously weren't around in Autumn 2018, when AHT fell from around 2437p (Sept) to 1616p (Dec) in a previous across the market sell off. Same company, same prospects, I doubt relative strength is anything other than an after the event indicator, and market sentiment is more forward looking and perhaps plays a bigger part. AHT seems to have become 'flavour of the month' having received lots of favorable reviews. Good to see that we are riding out the current turbulence so far this time in better shape. Are you holding? | perfido
28/1/2020 17:59 | It's called relative strength - strong stocks do that | davr0s
28/1/2020 17:44 | Thanks bracke, Interesting times, and AHT is showing admirable resilience | perfido
28/1/2020 11:16 | Some interesting price action. The drop yesterday was to be expected but was minimal given the circumstances. There was determination to hold onto £25. Today no messing, straight up to fill yesterdays gap followed by a retreat to......£25. Although Intra day it has dropped below £25 it has not closed below that level since reaching it. The aim appears to be the establishment of a new trading range between £25 and £26 but the elephant on the chart is that gap up from 2429. Unless the share price is going breakaway out of the £25-£26 trading range there is a high probability the gap will fill. | bracke
24/1/2020 12:00 | Good morning SMCN1968 'what happened to poster Ian?' ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Nothing I hope!! :-) Simply a change of 'pen name' for personal reasons Regards, perfido (formerly known as ianwwwhite) . | perfido
24/1/2020 11:51 | what happened to the poster Ian? | smcni1968
24/1/2020 11:22 | I think Hatto went into an oil share, maybe pet and that went sour, hope I am wrong as I did enjoy reading of his success in AHT. | optomistic
24/1/2020 10:45 | Good day 0rient If I remember correctly Hatto sold his shares long ago but still did very well. | bracke
24/1/2020 10:44 | Yes Orient, I remember him well, probably comfortably retired on the proceeds of his former AHT holdings by now. | jas964 |
