17/6/2019 15:16 | Good day Disco They other aspect to consider is the FED Meeting on Wednesday and the market expectation of a rate reduction. Reduction or no reduction there is likely to be a 'reaction'! | bracke
17/6/2019 14:03 | Sorry chaps, just offloaded some and banked profit from £3.90.Probably regret it if bounces up on results tomorrow, was too overweight here (c 24% of PF) and do think tariffs plus poor weather has hit Q4 (hope not as still hold 15% of PF).Good luck all. | discodave4
14/6/2019 18:26 | Buying opportunity at Ashtead, says Numis Fears of a slowdown in US long-term project spending are overdone and creating a buying opportunity at equipment rental company Ashtead (AHT), says Numis. Analyst Steve Woolf reiterated his ‘buy’ recommendation and target price of £28 on the shares, which rose 6.5p to £19.66 yesterday. ‘The broader trading environment remains supportive, and we expect Ashtead to continue to demonstrate further market share gains,’ he said. ‘We believe concerns of a rapid decline in its US end-markets are overdone. Trading at a significant discount to historic earnings valuations, the shares present a buying opportunity.’ | dcarn

13/6/2019 23:38 | Hi bracke,I too looked at the AA financials some time ago and due to its massive debt put it on my short short list - went for CNA in the end. | discodave4

13/6/2019 20:15 | Bracke, SMCNl1968, Lol! Thanks for your explanations, most interesting! :-) | ianwwwhite
13/6/2019 18:23 | i think that happened because they had shares transferred to them when they pulled out of Woodford | smcni1968
13/6/2019 18:10 | ian Back in the day there was a court case against the AA Patrolmen who were warning motorists about speed traps. So instead of warning motorists by waving them down they wouldn't salute. | bracke
13/6/2019 17:18 | bracke Thanks for your views. My interest was mildly aroused by the RNS when SJP crossed the 5% threshold. As you say, a sorry tale possibly of the pump, strip and dump variety so I won't be risking my 'hard earned' either. Furthermore the AA patrolmen don't even salute the members any more as they pass! | ianwwwhite
13/6/2019 16:59 | ian I took a look at the AA. chart, financials and history. It had been sold on a few times util it listed and was £2.50 at the IPO. It rose to £4.25 before commencing the long slow fall to to-days 52p. A typical City 'pump and dump'. What a sad tale. Certainly not an investment share for me. As for trading, there are better opportunities. | bracke
13/6/2019 16:26 | Incidentally, are we still supposed to be watching AA. ? You might ask your friend, I've seem more action on the TV Test Card... | ianwwwhite
13/6/2019 16:18 | Bracke lol! Me too!! It's not nice watching a frog have a near death experience... | ianwwwhite
13/6/2019 16:12 | Ah yes!.....the frogs. The thought still provokes a sense of fear and panic. | bracke
13/6/2019 15:54 | Wise bracke, very wise, I'll tell the frogs to stand down :-) | ianwwwhite
13/6/2019 15:50 | Good day ian I had not forgotten that previous good results failed to result in the customary share price rise, which is why I will not be partaking of 'buy the rumour' (I lack the intrepid spirit). I may have a dabble at 'sell the result' depending on the price action. | bracke
13/6/2019 15:28 | Hi bracke re 'Buy the rumour, sell the result' ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I wouldn't be so sure, as I am sure you will remember, there have been a number of instances in recent years when AHT has seemingly produced good results, but the share price has immediately fallen. Not a problem for 'long term holders', who's patience is eventually rewarded, but seemingly not a sure bet for carpet baggers and scalpers? Do let us know how you get on... :-) | ianwwwhite |
